Ram resurrects 1500 Express trim as an affordable option

Ram is revving up excitement with the return of an old favorite—the 2026 Ram 1500 Express. Reintroduced as a more affordable option in the full-size truck lineup, the Express trim brings back a combination of rugged style, respectable performance, and most importantly, a price tag that won't send buyers running for the hills. Starting at $41,105 for the base Quad Cab configuration (and just under $45,000 for the Crew Cab), the new Express offers a budget-friendly alternative in a market where full-size trucks can easily cross the $60,000 mark. Designed for buyers who want a solid, good-looking truck without all the high-end frills, the 1500 Express keeps things simple, but not spartan. It features monochromatic exterior styling, 20-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome-tipped exhausts, and body-colored fascias and grilles that lend it a modern, streamlined appearance. It's a stylish truck for everyday drivers, weekend warriors, or anyone who prefers horsepower over heated cup holders. Recommended Videos Under the hood, buyers get a choice between two familiar workhorses: a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine producing 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, or a more powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the truck is available in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations. Inside, the Express may not have the luxury bells and whistles of its pricier siblings, but it still comes equipped with a 5-inch touchscreen, basic infotainment features, air conditioning, and a rearview camera. For those wanting a bit more flair, Mopar accessories and packages are available to upgrade the interior or toughen up the exterior. In a market where truck prices continue to climb, the 2026 Ram 1500 Express is a strategic play by Stellantis to keep entry-level buyers in the game. The Express goes head-to-head with top-selling rivals like the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado. It's a back-to-basics truck with enough modern touches to appeal to budget-conscious shoppers who still want to ride in style. Please enable Javascript to view this content

Ram Reveals Revamped, Stylish Sub-$50K 1500 Express

From rural pastures to the quiet cul-de-sacs of the suburbs outside America's big cities, pickup trucks are vehicles driven by people from all walks of life. Their size and practical utility are some of the characteristics that keep new and potential truck buyers interested in these machines and set them apart from other segments. Like many new cars these days, brand-new pickup trucks are more than a pretty penny to get into, which leaves some buyers having to decide between breaking the bank or settling for something else. However, Ram's newest truck for 2026 is aimed at buyers who want more premium features and utility for their dollar. Though the Stellantis-owned Ram already brought back the Ram 1500 with a new skin for the 2025 model year, it is now reviving one of its most popular trim levels with an entirely new spin for 2026. The Ram 1500 Express may be the cheapest Ram in the shed, but it's being presented as a feature-packed machine for not much more money than the work-centric 1500 Tradesman. Available as a crew cab and a quad cab with the choice of rear-or four-wheel drive, the Ram 1500 Express packs a lot of truck for a base price of $44,495, which includes destination fees. Under the hood is a 305 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, and for $1,695, buyers can upgrade to the 420 horsepower 3-liter Hurricane SO inline-six. Ram says that rear-wheel drive quad cab Express trucks with the optional engine are tow rated up to 11,550 lbs. Though it may sound like a tall order to promise so much truck for under $50,000, this Ram packs a laundry list of features for the price. Standard on the Express are 20-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian emergency braking, and black-bezel LED headlights. Ram says that the Express version of the 1500 has a "menacing, badge-less monochromatic paint scheme," featuring gloss-black grille surrounds and body-colored front and rear bumpers for the a subdued, stylish, and stealthy look. Though the Express looks like a secret agent's special ride in Diamond Black, Ram is also offering the truck in Bright White, Granite Crystal, Forged Blue, and Hydro Blue. Buyers of four-wheel drive Quad and Crew cab Express models will also have the chance to get the Black Express package, which offers a litany of blacked-out trim pieces and accessories, including black 20-inch wheels, black color badges, a sport hood, side steps, and LED fog lights. The package also includes an upgraded cabin with black cloth bucket seats, a floor console, and a 7-inch gauge cluster. Ram says that the new 1500 Express will be built at its truck plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan. It expects to open orders for the 2026 Ram 1500 Express sometime in the third quarter of 2025. Before options, the most expensive variant, the 4WD Crew Cab will start at $51,095. In the official press release, Ram brand CEO Tim Kuniskis noted that the introduction of the 1500 Express is the latest move in revamping the brand's strategy for selling more trucks in the future. "The Express is the latest drop in Ram's product offensive," Kuniskis said. "We started the 2025 model year with a new Ram 1500 and new Ram Heavy Duty lineup. With the platforms refreshed, we begin rolling out trim level enhancements." Kuniskis also said that Ram isn't done introducing new products, as it has "25 more product announcements planned within the next 18 months, ranging from mild to wild with something for every truck buyer." The existence of the Express as an "essentials" truck with some of the toys of the higher trims, like the Big Horn and Tungsten, seems like a great package at a time when buyers want a foot-in-the-door into a cool-looking truck they can feel proud of having. 2026 Ram 1500 Express Returns with Style, Power, and Value

Ram is reintroducing a familiar name to its full-size truck lineup with the launch of the 2026 Ram 1500 Express. Aimed at buyers looking for affordability without compromising on design or features, the Express fills the gap left by the discontinued Ram 1500 Classic. Starting at $44,495, this model blends capability, technology, and updated styling into a compelling new entry point for Ram's modern truck offerings. Built for Budget-Conscious Buyers With the market lacking affordable new full-size trucks after the Classic's departure, 2026 Ram 1500 Express steps in as a value-focused option. Though it isn't the least expensive Ram truck—that title remains with the $42,370 Tradesman—it's positioned just above it and well below the Big Horn trim. The Express offers a distinct visual edge with monochromatic paint, gloss-black grille accents, and body-colored bumpers. Five exterior color options are available: Bright White, Granite Crystal (also referred to as Crystal Gray), Forged Blue (also Satin Blue or Aqua Blue), Hydro Blue, and Diamond Black. Prices are as follows: Quad Cab 2WD – $44,495 Crew Cab 2WD – $47,245 Quad Cab 4WD – $48,345 Crew Cab 4WD – $51,095 These prices include Ram's $2,095 destination charge. Equivalent pricing has also been listed in Saudi Riyals for global customers. Simple, Stylish, and Capable The Express trim delivers modern design elements previously limited to higher trims. Standard 20-inch wheels, a clean exterior look with minimal badging, and gloss-black highlights give it a bold, upscale presence. Ram also brings back the Black Express package—last seen in 2019—for $995. This adds black 20-inch wheels, side steps, a sport hood, LED fog lamps, black-badge detailing, and interior enhancements like premium cloth seats and a center floor console. The Black Express variant comes with a 7-inch digital gauge cluster and refined materials such as Liquid Graphite and Gridiron finishes in the cabin. Under the hood, the standard engine is the 305-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to improve efficiency. Buyers can also upgrade to the new 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane inline-six engine for $1,695. This high-output option delivers 420 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, exceeding even the HEMI V8 from previous models. When equipped with the rear-wheel-drive Quad Cab, the truck can tow up to 12,000 pounds—among the best ratings for this segment. Tech Features Without the Luxury Price Tag Despite its position as a value trim, the 2026 Express doesn't skimp on safety and driver-assist tech. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and black-bezel LED headlights. This approach allows Ram to cater to younger drivers and practical buyers who want current technology in a more affordable package. The reintroduction of the Express comes as part of a broader plan announced by Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who revealed the company intends to roll out 25 new vehicles over the next 18 months. After a rocky start with the 2025 Ram 1500—where limited lower trims left budget-conscious buyers out in the cold—the Express is Ram's first move to correct course. Deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025, and order banks are already open. For those who need a stylish, powerful, and capable truck without spending $70,000 or more, the 2026 Ram 1500 Express brings back the fundamentals—with a modern edge.
