Ram Says 2026 Ramcharger Will Go 690 Miles, 145 on Battery Power
The 2026 Ram Ramcharger is scheduled to go on sale later this year, and Stellantis has just unleashed a tranche of updated specs and information about this EREV, or extended range electric vehicle.
As a reminder, being an EREV means the Ramcharger effectively operates as an electric vehicle, but with a trick up its sleeve: when battery charge runs out, a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 kicks on to act as a generator, driving the electric motors powering the wheels and feeding power back into the battery. Ram touts it as the best of both worlds, claiming a total range of 690 miles between the 91.8-kWh battery pack and 27-gallon gas tank.
It's been a year and a few months since Ram initially revealed the Ramcharger, though, and a couple details have changed between then and now. For one, total system output is slightly down. The dual-motor setup produces a combined 647 horsepower and 610 pound-feet of torque, decreases of 16 and five, respectively, from previous estimates. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is a tenth slower than claimed before, rated at 4.5 seconds instead of 4.4.
We also learned that only 69.7 kWh of the 91.8 kWh battery pack is usable. Edmunds reports that this is built as a buffer to ensure there's no drop-off in performance as the state of charge descends. Our first thought here goes toward towing: The Ramcharger is rated to tow an impressive 14,000 pounds, so it'll need to produce its rated horsepower and torque in all conditions to ensure a seamless hauling experience.
You'll have three different driving modes to choose from: Electric+, E-Save and Eco. Electric+ simply keeps the gasoline engine off until battery power is depleted. E-Save will run the engine and either maintain the current state-of-charge or actively boost the battery up to 50%. Lastly, Eco is an all-around energy saver, reducing power and putting creature comforts like climate control into more energy-efficient settings.
The last big spec revealed is the Ramcharger's curb weight, ringing in at a mighty 7,507 pounds. That's heavier than the weightiest Ford F-150 Lightning or Tesla Cybertruck, even if it is around 1500 pounds lighter than GM's Chevy Silverado EV and Hummer EV SUT.
Why so heavy? This is the first Stellantis vehicle to be built on its new STLA Frame platform, so it's not exactly a typical Ram 1500 underneath. The Ramcharger has a frame that's eight inches wider through its center section than a standard Ram 1500 — and don't forget that this truck is packing both a big battery pack, two electric motors and a gasoline engine with a big fuel tank, to boot. There's a lot going on under the Ramcharger, and it all translates to ample weight.
Ram didn't reveal a specific price, but it did tell Edmunds that the base truck will be 'slightly more' expensive than the average transaction price of a full-size pickup when it goes on sale in the second half of the year. That would suggest an entry price of close to $70,000, considering the current average is approximately $65,000.
