Theyyam museum to come up at Kadannapally

A museum dedicated to preserving the ritualistic art of Theyyam without compromising its spiritual and traditional values will be established at Chanthappura in Kadannapally - Panapuzha grampanchayat, Minister for Registration, Museum and Archaeology Minister Ramachandran Kadannappally has said. Inaugurating the Theyyam museum project on Thursday, the Minister said that the museum was aimed at portraying Theyyam as a purely ritual art form. He added that the museum's design and narrative had been finalsied after in-depth consultations with Theyyam practitioners, ensuring authenticity and cultural integrity. The project, originally proposed during the tenure of the first LDF government, faced delays due to technical issues, despite land allocation by the Public Works department and detailed planning. It was revived later with a fresh administrative santion of ₹7.96 crore. The construction has been entrusted to Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society, with ₹1 crore already disbursed as mobilisation advance. The Minister called for the timely completion of the museum, highlighting the importance of preserving Theyyam in its true form. MLA, presided over the function. Rajmohan Unnithan, MP, and former MLA T.V. Rajesh were the chief guests. Museum and Zoo department Director P.S. Manjula Devi presented the project overview.

'Kerala has emerged as an investment-friendly state with a focus on progress in key sectors such as education, health, transport, and infrastructure,' he added. The minister also unveiled the documentary 'Smrithiyunarthi Museums,' prepared by the District Information Office. This documentary reflected Kerala's rich cultural heritage and its commitment to preserving historical monuments. A diverse array of stalls and attractions Over 250 stalls were set up at the fair, featuring 151 theme stalls from various government departments, alongside 100 commercial stalls, showcasing Kerala's thriving industries and tourism opportunities. A 52,000-square-foot pavilion was constructed for the event, including a 2,500-square-foot theme pavilion by the IPRD. Visitors explored special areas dedicated to tourism, public works, agriculture, sports, and startup missions. Among the key highlights were a mini-theater from the Kerala Film Corporation, a food court spanning 16,000 square feet, live police dog shows, and animal welfare department exhibits. Additionally, the forest department showcased its innovative snake app, while cultural performances by various artists were held under the Department of Culture's direction. Shivadasan, Member of Parliament, who attended the closing ceremony, praised the fair as a model for progress. 'Kerala is leading the way in every sector. The closing ceremony also saw the presentation of awards for the best stalls in various categories. K.V. Sumesh, MLA, who chaired the concluding session, echoed similar sentiments. ‘Ente Keralam' expo kicks off in Kannur

Minister for Registration, Museums and Archaeology Ramachandran Kadannappally on Friday inaugurated the 'Ente Keralam' Exhibition and Marketing Fair at the Kannur Police Ground. Speaking on the occasion, he said Kerala had achieved development excellence under the second Left Democratic Front government. The week-long event is being organised as part of the government's fourth anniversary celebrations. 'The strength of Kerala lies in its resilience and unity. The State has made strides in all sectors and has become a national model,' the Minister said, adding that a formal declaration of Kerala as an extreme poverty-free State would be made soon. Mr. Kadannappally also released 'Smritiyunarthi Museums', a documentary prepared by the District Information Office, on the occasion. The exhibition features over 250 stalls, including 151 theme stalls, and 100 commercial ones, covering 52,000 square feet. A dedicated 2,500-sq. ft. Information and Public Relations department theme pavilion and special segments for tourism, agriculture, KIIFB, start-ups, and public works are the key highlights. Presiding over the function, K.K. Shailaja, MLA, said Kerala's development model stood out globally for its inclusivity and sustainability. In addition to the Jaljeevan Mission, KIIFB has launched projects valued at Rs 5,000 crore to address water scarcity.
