Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Celebrates His 22nd Birthday

Rabat – On Thursday, the Kingdom of Morocco will observe the 22nd birthday of Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, an occasion that reaffirms the enduring continuity of the Alaouite Dynasty and the strong, time-honoured connection between the royal family and the Moroccan people. Born on May 8, 2003 at the Royal Palace in Rabat, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan was named in honor of his grandfather, the late King Hassan II. The Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery officially announced his birth, and the nation welcomed the news with joy, symbolizing not only the continuation of royal heritage but also a new chapter in the life of the Kingdom. Tomorrow, as Prince Moulay El Hassan turns 22, he has increasingly assumed a visible and dignified role in national life. His growing presence at key events reflects both his preparedness and his deep sense of responsibility toward public service and state affairs. On April 21, 2025, the Crown Prince presided over the opening of the 17th edition of the International Agricultural Fair in Meknes. This year's edition carried the theme 'Agriculture and the Rural World: Water at the Heart of Sustainable Development', bringing forward Morocco's ongoing efforts toward ecological balance and resilient agricultural practices. Earlier, on 3 March, the prince joined Princess Lalla Khadija to launch the Ramadan 1446 food distribution campaign. The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity orchestrated the initiative. It reached over one million households and reaffirmed the royal family's steadfast commitment to social welfare, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan. The Crown Prince has also played an increasingly prominent role in Morocco's diplomatic engagements. Last November, he received Chinese President Xi Jinping during a short visit to Morocco, a significant gesture in the context of bilateral relations. In the cultural sphere, the Crown Prince presided over the Grand Prix of Tbourida at the El Jadida Horse Show, welcomed young participants from Jerusalem at the Royal Palace in Tetouan, and took part in commemorations marking the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI's accession to the throne. These appearances form a clear portrait of a young royal rising to his role with assurance, quietly earning the admiration of the public and the respect of institutions. Yet tomorrow's significance lies not in ceremony, but in celebration. As the Crown Prince marks his 22nd year, Moroccans reflect not only on his noble lineage but also on the promise of a future shaped by dedication and continuity. It is a day of shared pride and joy, one that honors the past and welcomes the years ahead.

Morocco's Royal Guard Distributes Iftar Meals to Families in Need During Ramadan

Rabat – As part of the 'Iftar Ramadan 1446-2025' initiative, Morocco's Royal Guard will distribute Ftour meals to families in need throughout the holy month. Each year, the program ensures that vulnerable families receive a warm meal as they break their fast, a timeless symbol of the values of solidarity and compassion during Ramadan. The operation extends to several cities. In Rabat, distribution will take place in Dar Es-Salam, Touarga, Souissi, as well as at Moulay Abdellah Oncology Hospital and Avicenne Children's Hospital. Other cities that are taking part in the initiative include Sale, Tangier, Tetouan, and Marrakesh, among others. A total of 150,000 meals will be distributed over the course of the month, which seeks to ensure that families facing hardship have access to a warm and nourishing Ftour. To guarantee smooth operations, the Royal Guard will coordinate with local authorities at distribution points. Officials will supervise the process to make sure that families receive meals in the best conditions. Morocco is grappling with inflation, and it's becoming increasingly difficult for families to keep up with daily expenses. Basic necessities that were once affordable are now often too expensive and have slipped out of reach for many families. With Ramadan underway, prices of staples, from tomatoes to meat and dairy, continue to rise, and tighten the noose on Moroccans and their pockets. To that effect, the initiative seeks to lighten part of the financial burden by offering relief to those struggling to afford a proper meal. Earlier this month, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Princess Lalla Khadija launched another similar solidarity initiative, called 'Ramadan 1446' in order to extend support to families in need. With a budget of MAD 330 million ($33 million), this year's effort provided 34,280 tons of food supplies. The aid includes essential staples such as flour, milk, rice, oil, sugar, tomato concentrate, pasta, and tea. Tags: Holy monthmorocco ramadansocial aidthe holy month of Ramadan

Ramadan 1446 Operation Stands Out for First-Time Use of Data from RSU-Registered Households

Tuesday 4 March 2025 The national "Ramadan 1446" operation launched on Monday, upon High Royal Instructions, by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Khadija is distinguished by the use, for the first time, of socio-economic data from households registered in the Unified Social Register (RSU), according to project director at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity Souad Boulouiz. The RSU data enabled the Ministry of the Interior to update the lists of beneficiary households for the food aid operation, Boulouiz added. She noted that the use of this national information system aims to determine household eligibility for food support and to enhance the efficiency of various social programs. She further stated that this year, the "Ramadan 1446" operation benefits one million households, 74% of whom reside in rural areas. For her part, communications director at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity Sanae Dardikh, affirmed that this operation is an annual opportunity to uphold the values of generosity and mutual aid that unite different segments of Moroccan society in support of the most vulnerable groups, including widows, the elderly, and people with disabilities. With a budget of 330 million dirhams, the "Ramadan 1446" operation will distribute 34,280 tonnes of food products (flour, milk, rice, oil, sugar, tomato paste, vermicelli, lentils and tea). Organized with the financial support of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the national "Ramadan 1446" operation is fully in line with the humanitarian program conducted by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, and aims to provide support to those in need while promoting a culture of solidarity.
