Alert from embassy helping us remain safe during missile attacks, say T workers in Israel

cleared: jm Hyderabad: Indian workers in Israel said that alerts from the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv about incoming missiles have helped them remain safe so far. "Even before the sirens go off, we get messages from the embassy asking us to take safety precautions, and we head to the bunkers," said Ramesh Gangadhari from Mancherial in Telangana Gangadhari (30), who works at a printing press in Petah Tikva, about 23 km from Tel Aviv, told TOI that his area was the target of Iran's missiles early on Monday morning where four persons died in a residential block. Two more were injured when a missile hit a building. It was the first time after three days of attacks that Ramesh and his 28 other colleagues from Telangana went to work on Monday. A company bus ferries the workers to the work location about 12 km from their place of stay, he said. "But we were asked to go back home in the interest of our safety," Ramesh said, adding that on June 12 their employers had informed that they need not come to work until asked. Most of the other workers are in Israel from Telangana are from Nalgonda, Jagtial, Mancherial, and Nirmal. All of them had travelled to Israel in October last year. They all live in six buildings in five nearby locations. With family back in India concerned about their safety, the workers said they were in touch through video calls, showing them the bunkers and telling them not to worry about them. Since the stay in the bunkers is for several hours, the workers said they were taking enough snacks and water to drink. For instance, they went to the bunkers at 8.30 pm on June 15 and came out only at 4.30 am on June 16.
