Mahe station gets new look
The Mahe railway station also got a facelift under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). The renovated station was reopened with better facilities on Thursday (May 22, 2025). The government spent ₹12.61 crore for the facility upgrade.
Officials said a new waiting room, toilet block, extended platforms, stainless steel name boards, vertical gardens, and differently abled-friendly entrances were completed as part of the project. They also added that the station's colonial and coastal characters were preserved while introducing modern amenities and infrastructure.
Governor of Pudhucherry K. Kailashnathan, Ramesh Parambath, MLA, and Additional Divisional Railway Manager Jayakrishnan were present among other invitees at the inaugural event. A cultural events with patristic thems were also staged to mark the occasion.
