Ramesh, who sustained burn injuries as the Air India plane crashed into a hostel on June 2, was discharged from the Civil Hospital after he showed signs of recovery. The bodies of seven other victims from the crash were also brought to Diu for their final rites, it was known. At least 190 victims of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad have so far been identified through DNA matching, and 159 bodies have been handed over to their families, an official told news agency PTI on Wednesday. The London-bound Air India flight AI-171 carrying 242 passengers and crew members crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12. All but one on board the plane died along with nearly 29 on the ground when the aircraft smashed into a medical complex. Those deceased also included Gujarat's former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was cremated with full state honours by his family, in the presence of BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah. On Tuesday, the last rites of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, pilot in command of the ill-fated Air India plane, senior crew member Aparna Mahadik, and crew member Maithili Patil were also conducted in their respective hometowns. While the mortal remains of Captain Sabharwal were cremated at an electric crematorium in suburban Chakala, Mumbai, Maithili Patil was cremated in Raigad district. Mahadik's last rites were conducted in suburban Goregaon, in Mumbai.
