Ram Lalla's makeshift tent to be turned into memorial

1 2 Lucknow/Ayodhya: The Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust has announced that the temporary tent, which housed Ram Lalla for three decades, and the throne, where the deity had been seated since 1949, will be preserved as memorials and will be opened for darshan by devotees. The decision was taken in the recent meeting the Ram temple construction committee and the temple trust members. It was decided that the makeshift temple where idol of Ram Lalla was placed during the time of the construction of the new temple will be opened for devotees after renovation and maintenance work. Before the consecration ceremony of the deity in Jan last year, the idol of Ram Lalla, discovered in 1949, was being looked after as the resident deity of Ayodhya . Until the Supreme Court verdict came on the Ramjanmabhoomi matter in Nov 2019, the Ram Lalla resided under a tent. However in March 2020, chief minister Yogi Adityanath placed the idols of Ram Lalla, his brothers and Lord Hanuman at the upcoming temple site. "The objective at that time was to facilitate the construction work and hence the idols were shifted to the makeshift temple as per the rituals. Initially we were planning to use the area for developing a green zone, staff complex and other purposes but owing to the importance and faith of the devotees keen on learning about the Ram temple movement, it has been decided to restore the site as a religious place," said a source. Temple construction committee chairman Nripendra Mishra said the site would be opened for devotees and the tent under which Ram Lalla took shelter before being shifted to the newly constructed temple would be also be opened for darshan. As the makeshift temple was primarily based on wooden structure, engineers and experts have been asked to examine the layout and entry and exit routes to ensure seamless movement of the devotees within the temple compound.
