Jaat OTT release date: When and where to watch Sunny Deol's movie online

Jaat OTT release date: Sunny Deol's movie Jaat, which was released in theatres on April 10, is all set to make its OTT debut. During its run, the movie garnered praise from both critics and the audience. The good reviews also translated into better box office numbers, as the action movie earned ₹ 88.65 crore domestically during its theatrical run, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Globally, the film was a commercial hit in the ₹ 100 crore club. Jaat has earned ₹ 118.78 crore at the worldwide box office. According to media reports, Jaat, starring Sunny Deol, will begin streaming on Netflix from June 5 onwards. However, the OTT giant has not officially confirmed this yet. Jaat is a high-octane action thriller set in the turbulent aftermath of the 2009 Tamil civilian war. The narrative kicks off when Ranatunga, a ruthless war criminal, flees to India with stolen treasure and, along with his gang, establishes a brutal regime across thirty villages. As oppression deepens and hope fades, the villagers live in fear under his reign of terror. Years later, a mysterious stranger known only as Jaat emerges. Driven by a fierce sense of justice, he begins to uncover the atrocities committed by Ranatunga and his equally merciless wife. What follows is a relentless one-man crusade as Jaat takes on their tyrannical empire, determined to bring them down and restore peace to the region. Jaat also stars Randeep Hooda, Viineet Kumar Siingh, Ramya Krishnan, and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles. Sunny Deol has announced that he will return as Baldev Pratap Singh soon. Bollywood's action hero said there will be a Jaat 2, a sequel to the movie. Director Gopichand Malineni is reportedly going to direct the sequel. 'You have given me so much love for my film Jaat. I promise Jaat 2 will be even better,' Sunny said in the video.

No difference playing hero or villain: Randeep Hooda

(NOTE: This article was originally published in the India Today issue dated May 12, 2025) Q. You've played the antagonist a few times, including in your latest film Jaat. What does it really take to be an effective villain? There is no difference with playing the hero or the villain. While I am used to doing a lot of prep for my roles, with this one, almost 90 per cent of the job is looking the part. Usually, the audience cheers for the hero but with Jaat, I have got so much love for Ranatunga (his character) that I am amazed. advertisement Q. You recently said that you want to direct more... I was an accidental director (on Swatantrya Veer Savarkar) but I then found that I have a flair for it. All my life, I've been co-conspiring with my directors for my part at least. What has also helped is that I've been a wildlife photographer for about eight years now, which has honed my sense of framing. I have a couple of stories that I've developed, both action films. Q. Boman Irani, who just directed his first film, took time off to study screenplay writing and skill up. Is that something you feel you would need to do as well? Not at all. In fact, for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, I also co-wrote the screenplay with Utkarsh Naithani and it just flew out of me. I didn't feel the need to get any other skill set at all. Maybe I was just born to do it (laughs). advertisement Q. Do you enjoy writing? I really do. Since the screenplay, I've been writing short stories in Hindi. They basically document our times. I write about Versova (a suburb in Mumbai) and the characters I have known. When you read a lot, you also want to write because your thoughts need an outlet. I did most of my writing after I broke my knee while horse riding. I have about 10-15 short stories written. A few more and I'll probably put them out there as a book.
