It was not a sudden exit: Randeep Rai on his track wrapping up in Anupamaa

Randeep Rai; with Shivam Khajuria and Zalak Desai in the show Randeep Rai , who portrayed Aryan in the hit television show Anupamaa, has officially wrapped up his stint on the series. Contrary to speculation, the actor clarified that his departure was not a sudden decision nor due to a change in the storyline. "I didn't exit because the script changed or the decision was forced on me," Randeep stated. "I was informed from the very beginning that my character would die and that the role would last for about 45 days. In fact, it extended to nearly two and a half months. I'm glad something this challenging came my way after a long time." Reflecting on his character, Randeep explained, "I enjoy playing lead roles—as I did in Balika Vadhu 2 and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2—but I also want to break out of the typical loverboy mold. Aryan was a layered character. He wasn't negative per se; he had reasons for his actions, including his resentment towards his mother and siblings. It was a character with depth and a strong narrative arc." Looking ahead, Randeep is open to exploring a variety of roles across platforms. "I'm not fixated on the medium. What matters is the strength of the role. Let's see where destiny takes me," he concluded. Currently, the track in the show focusses on Aryan (Randeep Rai) and Mahi (Spreha Chatterjee) getting married and the Kotharis and Shahs are rejoicing and celebrating the event. However, Aryan is caught taking drugs by Anupama ( Rupali Ganguly ) and she pleads him to tell the entire family that he has not given up on drugs. Actor Randeep Rai clarifies that his role in the television daily Anupamaa was always short-term

Actor Randeep Rai has put to rest speculation that his role in the daily soap Anupamaa was abruptly cut short. 'My role was always for one and a half months, nothing more or beyond,' he clarifies, adding, 'From my first meeting, I was told my character Aryan would die. So where do these rumours come from that I've been 'removed' or 'it was a sudden exit'?' He adds, 'I feel nobody wants to find the right causes, which is more the reason that many versions start to get circulated. Anyway, to each his own.' With several shows going off-air and characters being changed mid-season, the 31-year-old admits the television industry is in a tough spot. 'It's unpredictable industry like any other, but there's still work—whoever gets it, good for them because kaam toh ho raha aur mil bhi raha hain. I always believe until you see yourself on screen, don't assume you've bagged a show because talks and planning is a regular thing,' he says. Rai also feels that TV's struggle to retain younger audiences stems from a lack of youth-focused content. 'I began with Yeh Unn Dino Ki Baat Hai, which was completely youth-centric. Such shows worked. But since 2016, we haven't seen that kind of content again.' He admits he was hopeful for a sequel to the show, though he's unsure if it will materialise. 'I desperately want it to happen. If the industry brings back strong youth content, TV can definitely win back its younger audience,' he adds. After Anupamaa, the actor plans to spend time with family and friends and celebrate his birthday next month till he get the right script.
