Sask. town offering $1,000 reward for info after pride crosswalk vandalized
The community of Tisdale, Sask. is condemning an act of vandalism and searching for those responsible – after a swastika was painted over a rainbow crosswalk in the town.
'The Town of Tisdale is disheartened and disappointed by the recent act of vandalism that occurred within our community. Such senseless damage not only affects public property but also undermines the safety, pride, and spirit we work hard to uphold in our town,' the town said in a statement.
The town says the matter is under investigation and is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to charges.
Both Premier Scott Moe and federal MP Randy Hoback took to social media to condemn the incident.
'I am deeply disturbed and saddened by the recent act of vandalism that occurred in Tisdale,' Moe said. 'These actions are completely unacceptable and must not be tolerated.'
Hoback, the MP for Prince Albert, echoed the premier's sentiments.
'I am saddened to see this type of hate appearing in our community. Such hate must never be tolerated,' he said.
According to the Town of Tisdale, RCMP are investigating the incident and residents with information are asked to come forward.
The Town of Tisdale is located about 135 kilometres southeast of Prince Albert.
