Belagavi to host play on Hemareddy Mallamma today
Actors of theatre group Ranga Shrusti will perform Ileya Belaku, a play on the 14th century saint Hemareddy Mallamma, at the Kannada Bhavan in Nehru Nagar here on Saturday. Entry is free.
The play written by Ramakrishna Marathe is directed by Shirish Joshi. It is being staged in association with the Reddy Sangha and Kannada Bhavan.
President of Ranga Shrushti Ramesh Jangal will sponsor the show.
Actors Shanta Acharya, Sharada Bhoj, Sharanagouda Patil, Sharaniah Mathapati, Shraddha Patil, Shobha Banashankari, Vishwanath Desai, Jayashree K.M., Shantha Jangal, Ramesh Mirji, P.G. Kempannavara, Ramesh Jangal, Jayashree Ksheerasagar, Jyoti Badami, Shailaja Bhinge, Jayaseel Byakoda, Pushpa Maradura, Ganga Thimmanaiker and others will play different roles.
Music will be arranged by Manjula Joshi, Muddu Mohan and Ramesh Mirji. They will use some songs set to music by Yenagi Balappa and sung by Shivanand Patil and Subhadramma Mansur.
Shanta Acharya is the dance director. Narayan Ganachari will play the Tabla. Stage management and technical support is by Sharanagouda Patil, Ramesh Kumar and others, said a release.
