Another Chemist Warehouse millionaire buys in Byron region at a record
Another Chemist Warehouse millionaire has bought into Byron's hinterland in one of the region's top sales of the year. Brisbanite Brett Clark, AM and his wife Maria have emerged as the $27.5 million buyers of Copperstone in Bangalow, settlement documents reveal, breaking the suburb record by more than double. The Clarks purchased the luxury equine retreat from Tom and Emma Lane, of the Oroton fashion family empire, who built the property from scratch after purchasing the 19 -hectare farmland for $3 million in 2021. The Lanes have recently traded Byron for Sydney after a string of purchases on the city's northern beaches. Nestled in a picturesque country landscape, the property is a sight to behold and was the latest addition to the Lanes' portfolio of luxury accommodation known as The Range Estates. A prominent Australian businessman and philanthropist, Brett is the co-founder of successful online healthcare company ePharmacy. He rode the '90s dotcom boom before selling in 2005 for a stake in Chemist Warehouse, where he is now a managing partner in Queensland and NSW. The pharmacist by trade holds a string of board positions, including chairman of Queensland Ballet Company and chairman of Queensland Rugby Union. In 2023, the University of Queensland alumnus was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to community health, the arts and to sports organisations. Brett, who is also a keen marathon runner, became the board director of the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games. The lavish estate not only hit a Bangalow record, but is among one of the all-time top sales in the Byron region. Selling agent Kim Jones, who is the daughter of real estate doyenne Di Jones, has struck multiple records since moving to the region, including holding the title of the North Coast high of $33.65 million for the Lanes' The Range in Coopers Shoot. She declined to comment when contacted.
