More info Rap icon Snoop Dogg has unveiled his plans to launch a pop-up burger joint at Celtic Park - aiming to serve up top-notch bacon cheeseburgers to the Hoops faithful. The hip-hop heavyweight and long-time Celtic supporter is keen to personally dish out the grub at Parkhead, telling the Sunday Mail: "There has always been the opinion that food at sports stadiums is never good but that ain't got to be the case." Snoop, who's also known for his culinary skills, expressed his desire to shake up stadium food. He said: "People know that Snoop is a cook and I would love to bring a pop up burger to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good." And he's set his sights on Celtic Park, saying: "It's got to be Celtic Park man, I mean where else am I going to bring it." The 'Gin and Juice' rapper shared his recipe for success. He said: "The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation. The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple cured bacon." Snoop is confident the Celtic crowd will be impressed, saying: "The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself." At 53, Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jnr, has not only made waves in music but also in the food world, appearing on cooking shows with Martha Stewart and releasing his own cookbook, 'From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg's Kitchen'. He's even considered teaming up with Rangers-supporting celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay for a restaurant venture, jokingly noting Ramsay's penchant for profanity, reports the Daily Record. He said: "I have told him I want to open a restaurant with him and maybe it might even be in Glasgow. "For real – we are always swapping cooking tips and I do mean swapping. It's not just one way traffic, I send him tips as well – he respects Snoop as chef. "My boy Gordon has got a worse mouth than me but that's only because of his passion. Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well? Nah, I think we will give that a miss!". "I have told him I want to open a restaurant with him and maybe it might even be in Glasgow." Celtic Park is known for its innovative culinary offerings. In 2023, Smokey Trotters Kitchen, a popular street food eatery based in Glasgow's Barras Market, introduced Katsu Fries at the stadium - chips topped with salt and chilli chicken, cheese, curry sauce, crispy onions and coriander. Scheme Poutine - fries loaded with haggis, cheese, crispy onions and then peppercorn sauce - also became a favourite with fans. Stoltman brothers help make NFL Draft history as New York Jets put Scotland on the map
New York Jets created American football history at Loch Ness yesterday - with help from the Stoltman Brothers. For the first time, a selection in the NFL Draft was announced from Scotland. Aldourie Castle was the stunning setting as the 'World's Strongest Brothers', from Invergordon, made the major reveal. Their fanbase's nickname is Gang Green but the Rangers-supporting Stoltmans were thrilled to join the Jets' effort. Luke and Tom announced linebacker Francisco Mauigoa from Miami as the Jets' fifth-round choice. NFL teams add players from college ranks to their squad for the upcoming season at the annual jamboree. Yesterday was the third and final day of the 2025 draft, hosted by Green Bay. However, the Jets have UK and Ireland marketing rights through the NFL's Global Markets Program and previously declared picks from London and Dublin. The Stoltmans are sure to take an eager interest after paving the way to the lucrative big-time for a young athlete yesterday. Luke, 40, said: 'Of course, we'll be keen to hear how he gets on. I love the concept behind the draft picks. 'I can't imagine how it must feel, as a young player, waiting to hear your name not knowing where in the country you'll end up.' Tom, 30, three-time winner of 'World's Strongest Man', added: 'We have the kit now - and the specially-made Jets tartan kilts. 'They can come to us for some off-season training; we'll get them in shape!' The Jets are on the rebuild through the draft following a five-win season in 2024. Offensive tackle Armand Membou was first pick, followed by tight end Mason Taylor and cornerback Azareye'h Thomas. Jets, Cleveland Browns and UK regulars Jacksonville Jaguars will play 'home' fixtures in London in 2025, while Dublin hosts a Pittsburgh Steelers game. Jets vice-president of finance and analytics, John MacCarter, is keen for his club to be embraced by Scotland and open to moving an NFL match here. He said: 'This is something the league office handles, but we'd be honoured to be considered if they can get there. 'Announcing a draft pick from an iconic Scottish location has been great. 'We want to introduce Scots to American football culture and what the Jets are all about. 'What I love about Scottish sports is the rivalries - like the Old Firm. As best I can tell, that began 71 years BEFORE the Jets started! 'But that doesn't mean we haven't created amazing rivalries ourselves. 'We play the other three teams in our division a lot, so there's plenty room for animosity. I can't wait to introduce that to Scottish fans.'

How sectarianism made its mark in this key Scottish by-election
Strip away the pretence and it is more accurately phrased: 'Are you a Catholic or a Protestant?' While great strides have been made in leaving the old sectarian divides in the past, it would be naive to believe they were ever entirely consigned to history, especially in Glasgow and the satellite towns of Lanarkshire. It is here we set our scene for the upcoming Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election, triggered by the sad passing of Christina McKelvie (below). (Image: PA) Sectarianism, never quite vanquished as the idealistic politicians of yesterday would have liked to believe, lingers in Scottish politics. Evidence of this as campaigning began for this crucial by-election has not exactly been glaring; but look closer and you will find it. The SNP have been briefing stories about Labour candidate Davy Russell's ties with the old boys' club of Glasgow, when the city was still red. One of the few photographs of him on record was from an outing he took with former council leader Frank McAveety and other council high heid yins to watch Rangers play at Ibrox. READ MORE: Scottish Government delivers statement after Supreme Court's sex ruling That this picture was briefed out to the press alongside details of his links with the Glasgow Labour mob, as well as his business links with Gers supremo Barry Ferguson, was not coincidental. Some in the SNP believe that Russell has been put forward in the race to galvanise the Unionist – and likely Rangers-supporting – vote in this part of South Lanarkshire. Here's Labour's candidate for the Hamilton by-election, David Russell, watching Rangers play at Ibrox alongside Frank McAveety and George Redmond — Hamish Morrison (@HMorrison97) April 16, 2025 Elsewhere, the SNP made a point this week of announcing they had suspended campaigning as a mark of respect after the death of Pope Francis. Scottish Labour made no such announcement and did not respond to an inquiry from The National as to whether campaigning continued. It is hard to see this as anything other than the logical continuation of a deliberate strategy carried out more than 20 years ago to win over Scottish Catholics, who were historically repelled by the 'Protestant party', as historian Tom Devine once called the SNP. If this seems like an outrageously outdated way of looking at the world, consider the political calculations one must make in a town like Larkhall, where the council spent £17,000 on replacing vandalised green traffic lights and the Subway sandwich shop's sign is black instead of emerald.
