Kumar Rocker's 5 scoreless innings and pickle juice spark Rangers' 2-1 win over White Sox
Rookie right-hander Kumar Rocker pitched five scoreless innings with help from some pickle juice, Ezequiel Duran put Texas in front for good with an RBI double and the Rangers finished a sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 2-1 victory on Sunday. Rocker (2-4) twice got visits from the trainer with apparent cramping in his legs in the fifth, and quickly chugged three bottles of pickle juice along the way, while getting through the inning. The 25-year-old allowed four hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Aaron Civale (1-3) allowed two runs after walking four of the first seven hitters he faced in his debut for the White Sox, two days after getting traded by Milwaukee. The right-hander said he wanted to remain a starter, with the Brewers or another team, after getting sent to the bullpen. Marcus Semien's sacrifice fly put Texas ahead 2-0 in the fifth after Duran's run-scoring hit in the second. Miguel Vargas hit his team-leading 10th homer for the White Sox, who have lost 10 in a row at Texas. Luke Jackson pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save — and first since April 25 — in 11 chances. Chicago's Josh Rojas was thrown out trying to steal second base with runners at the corners and one out in the seventh, and Ryan Noda didn't break from third on Kyle Higashioka's throw. Three pitches later, Mike Tauchman was called out on strikes to end the inning. The Rangers have won seven of eight games to get back to .500 for the first time since May 21. Both teams are off Monday before starting a three-game series at home on Tuesday. White Sox rookie RHP Shane Smith (3-3, 2.37 ERA) is set to go against St. Louis. Texas RHP Jack Leiter (4-3, 3.88) is on tap against Kansas City.

Adolis Garcia gives Rangers huge win with epic walk-off vs. White Sox
The post Adolis Garcia gives Rangers huge win with epic walk-off vs. White Sox appeared first on ClutchPoints. Adolis Garcia is off to a slower start compared to the rest of his career. However, the former All-Star outfielder came through when it mattered the most against the Chicago White Sox. The 32-year-old hit an RBI single against Tyler Alexander to give the Texas Rangers a 5-4 win. Manager Bruce Bochy, who is in the last year of his deal with the Rangers, was ejected in the sixth inning. That spurred his team, lead by Corey Seager to score four unanswered runs to force the game into extra innings. Advertisement Garcia tagged Alexander for a single in the bottom of the 11th to score Evan Carter, who is dealing with injury. He replaced Seager as a pinch runner, a move that helped the Rangers walk away with their 35th victory of the season. The single was Garcia's sixth walk-off hit of his career. The veteran outfielder has been with Texas since 2020, helping Bochy turn the team into a World Series champion. The win was the Rangers' sixth in seven games, and they will try to complete the series sweep on Sunday. Unfortunately for Bochy, his scheduled starter might not be on the mound. Rangers starter Tyler Mahle told the team about soreness in his throwing shoulder. Bochy and Texas will be careful with his recovery. With Nathan Eovaldi already on the injured list, the Rangers cannot afford to lose another starter. Advertisement For the White Sox, the loss is a disappointing one. While Will Venable has improved the team's morale in his first year, Chicago's young roster still has a lot to learn about close games. Garcia took advantage of Alexander's lack of experience and his high pitch count on Saturday. Every win counts for Texas at this point in the season. The Rangers are in third place in the American League West, fighting with the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels for second. The team has what it takes to contend for the pennant, but their offense has been lacking. Saturday could be a good sign of what is to come. If Garcia and Seager can get back to their former glory, Texas is a dangerous team. García hits a big 2-run double as the Rangers stop a 6-game slide by edging the White Sox 5-4
CHICAGO (AP) — Adolis García hit a two-run double in a three-run ninth inning, and the Texas Rangers stopped a six-game slide with a 5-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Jake Burger hit a two-run homer for the Rangers, who had dropped seven of eight overall. Shawn Armstrong (2-1) got four outs for the win, and Robert Garcia worked a rocky ninth for his second save. The Rangers' ninth-inning rally started when Josh Jung was hit by a 0-2 fastball from Jordan Leasure (0-4). Burger followed with a double to put runners on second and third. After Alejandro Osuna struck out, Kyle Higashioka reached on an error on first baseman Lenyn Sosa. Jung scored, tying it at 3, and García followed with a drive into the gap in left-center. The White Sox got one back on Michael A. Taylor's RBI double in the bottom of the ninth. But Garcia picked Taylor off and Vinny Capra flied to the warning track in left for the final out.

Langford homer ends no-hit bid and gives Rangers 2-1 win over Colorado after Rockies fired manager
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Wyatt Langford hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning for Texas to end a no-hit bid by the Colorado Rockies in their first game after manager Bud Black was fired, and the Rangers went on to a 2-1 win Monday night. Rockies rookie right-hander Chase Dollander (2-4) walked the first batter he faced in his seventh big league start, then retired 15 in a row before getting into trouble in the sixth. He issued another leadoff walk, though there with two outs when Langford went deep. The Rockies fell to 7-34 with their ninth loss in 10 games. Texas starter Tyler Mahle (4-1) struck out five and walked one in his 6 1/3 innings. Jacob Webb finished the ninth and worked out of a bases-loaded jam for his first save. Closer Luke Jackson was struck on his right hand by a 111-mph comeback liner on his first pitch and an infield single for Ryan McMahon. Colorado had taken a 1-0 lead in its first game with interim manager Warren Schaeffer, who had been the third base coach. Hunter Goodman had a leadoff single in the second and scored on a two-out single by Nick Martini. Langford's homer was the only hit allowed by Dollander in his six innings. The ninth overall pick from the 2023 amateur draft struck out seven while throwing 49 of his 85 pitches for strikes. Key moment Langford's seventh homer of the season was a 412-foot drive into the Rangers bullpen in right-center field. Key stat Mahle's 1.47 ERA is the second-best in the majors, but this was his first win in his five starts. The Rangers were shut out twice at home during that span. Up next Colorado lefty Kyle Freeland (0-4, 6.41 ERA) pitches Tuesday night. Rangers right-hander Jake Leiter (2-2, 5.09) is winless in his last three starts since winning his first two. ___ AP MLB:
