'Rappa Rappa': Chandrababu Naidu Vs Jagan Reddy Over YSRCP Worker's 'Pushpa 2' Dialogue

Last Updated: The YSRCP worker, who was previously affiliated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), compared opposition leaders to goats being lined up for sacrifice A fresh political storm erupted in Andhra Pradesh on Friday after a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) supporter invoked the dialogue 'Rappa Rappa" from the Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2, during a recent public meeting, comparing political adversaries to sacrificial animals. The YSRCP worker, who was previously affiliated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), compared opposition leaders to goats being lined up for sacrifice, citing the Gangamma Jatara tradition. He used the line 'Rapa Rapa Narukutham" (we'll chop heads one by one) during Reddy's public rally to symbolise their supposed fate, drawing outrage from the ruling TDP. Defending the remarks, Jagan Mohan Reddy said, 'Even though he was a TDP member, he joined the YSRCP, displaying a sense of regional anger against the government for its failure on promises. He made statements like 'Rappa rappa, like Gangamma Jatara…' meaning what?" He added: 'He meant to say that people are that angry with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, that he has failed them and betrayed them. The anger is such that even a Telugu Desam Party karyakarta jumped to our party and said, 'Just like in Gangamma Jatara, where an animal is sacrificed by beheading, they will behave towards TDP — rappa rappa." 'Is it wrong to use a movie dialogue in a democracy?" Reddy questioned. He further accused the Chief Minister of misrule and claimed the comments were a reflection of people's frustration with the TDP's tenure. 'If there is a dialogue in movies that is a joke, can it be put on a flex banner? Do you think that people are killed in movies and it is okay to kill them outside?" he asked, warning that such language fuels a culture of violence. He continued, 'If a person thinks, 'I will do anything, I will kill my Babai,' who are you to say? What is the trend? What is the message you're trying to send to the public?" — calling Jagan's endorsement of such language deeply irresponsible. 'We have been seeing certain individuals in the state lately behaving like maniacs, making statements such as, 'We will cut off, we will kill, we will behead people.' This is the mindset of criminals," Naidu further said. TDP leader and IT Minister Nara Lokesh also took to social media to condemn the rhetoric. 'Will you slaughter them like sheep, @ysjagan? … Your attitude is very dangerous for democracy," he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
