JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT)- United Way of Onslow County's annual 'Vine and Dine' fundraiser will take place on May 3rd with a new Kentucky Derby theme.
The event will be at the Waltons Distillery Event Center in Jacksonville with tickets on sale for $50 each. Patrons can try samples from local restaurants, distilleries, breweries and vineyards. There will also be live music, a viewing of the race and other derby themed activities.
The event will help fund United Way's programming, which includes but is not limited to giving grants to nonprofits, their Children Healthy Eating on Weekends (CHEW) program and their efforts to turn a vacant Jacksonville hotel into transitional housing.
'United Way is at the table for a lot. We are a busy around the clock, but we're at the table because we want to make a difference in the community and being in the community, we find out the need is there,' Director of Community Impact Diana King-Barnes said.
Individual tickets can be purchased here. They're also still looking for sponsorships, which can be found at the same link.
'There's no question we're here to serve the community in whatever capacity the community needs us at that moment,' President Raquel Painter said.
