Ahli Sidab crowned 2025 OHL champions
MUSCAT, MAY 22 Ahli Sidab Club secured the 2025 Oman Hockey League title after a narrow 1-0 victory over Seeb Club in a thrilling final match at the Oman Hockey Stadium in Al Amerat on Wednesday night. The match, attended by Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, and Dr Marwan bin Juma al Juma, Chairman of the Oman Hockey Association, was filled with excitement and competitive spirit. The match began cautiously, with both teams sharing possession without creating real chances, ending the first quarter goalless. The second quarter followed a similar pattern with no goals scored. In the third quarter, Ahli Sidab's Rashad al Fazari broke the deadlock, converting a well-executed penalty corner into the only goal of the match. Despite Seeb's attempts to equalise, Ahli Sidab maintained their lead to end the quarter ahead. The final quarter saw increased pressure from Seeb, but Ahli Sidab's defence held firm until the final whistle, securing a well-earned championship title. Notable performers from Seeb included Amjad al Hasani, Fahad al Lawati, Khalid al Hasani and Mohammed al Lawati. For Ahli Sidab, standouts included Rashad al Fazari, Haitham al Wahaibi, Shafi Talib and Khalid al Shoaibi. AL AMERAT SECURE BRONZE In the third-place match, Al Amerat delivered a commanding 6-0 victory over Salalah Club. Mahmoud Ashour opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the first quarter. Ayman Faraj doubled the lead in the second quarter with an impressive solo effort. Al Amerat continued their dominance in the third quarter, with goals from Osama Ramadan and Ahmed al Nofali — who scored from a penalty corner. Ayman Faraj added a fifth goal before completing his hat-trick in the 49th minute of the final quarter, sealing Al Amerat's third-place finish in emphatic fashion. At the conclusion of the tournament, the shining stars were honoured, with Maitham al Wahaibi (Ahli Sidab) receiving the Best Rising Player award, while the Best Goalkeeper award went to his teammate Ibrahim al Farsi, while Rashad al Fazari (Ahli Sidab) won the league's top scorer award. The Best Player award went to Osama Ramadan (Al Amerat), in recognition of his remarkable performance throughout the tournament. 'REMARKABLE FINAL' OHA Vice-Chairman Saeed al Maamari expressed his great satisfaction with the level of organisation and competition in the 2025 season finale. 'We are proud to conclude this exceptional season. Congratulations to Ahli Sidab for their well-deserved championship, and to Seeb for securing second place. Al Amerat also performed remarkably to claim third,' said Al Maamari. He added, 'The final match was thrilling until the last minute, full of competitiveness and balance. It's a clear indicator of the steady progress hockey is making in Oman and the rising level of local club competition. We were also impressed by the emerging young talents — future stars who will strengthen the national team.' He concluded by emphasising the importance of continuing to organise high-quality domestic competitions, describing them as essential to the sport's development and its growing presence both locally and internationally. Seeb edge Al Amerat, Ahli Sidab thrash Salalah
MUSCAT, MAY 19 The final stage of the 2025 Oman Hockey League continues on Tuesday with two decisive matches taking place at the Oman Hockey Stadium in Al Amerat. In the first match, Salalah Club will face Seeb Club in a game between two teams aiming to reach the final. The second match will see Ahli Sidab Club clash with Al Amerat Club in a fierce battle for a place in the final. The league concludes on Wednesday with the final match to determine the champion, alongside the third-place playoff. Seeb defeated Al Amerat in an exciting second-round semifinal match with a close 3-2 victory. The first quarter was balanced with both teams exchanging attempts but failing to score. Early in the second quarter, Seeb opened the scoring through Abdullah al Hasani from a penalty corner in the 17th minute. His teammate Imad al Hasani doubled the lead in the 29th minute, ending the quarter with Seeb leading 2-0. In the third quarter, Al Amerat managed to pull one back when Osama Ramadan converted a penalty corner in the 41st minute. Despite both teams pushing hard, the score remained 2-1 in favor of Seeb at the end of the quarter. The intensity increased in the final quarter as Seeb extended their lead with a third goal by Fahad al Lawati from a penalty corner in the 45th minute. Al Amerat refused to give up, and Elias al Nofali scored their second goal from a penalty corner in the 53rd minute. Despite Al Amerat's efforts to equalise in the closing minutes, Seeb held on to their lead, securing a 3-2 victory. AHLI SIDAB SINK SALALAH In the second match, Ahli Sidab achieved a massive 8-1 victory over Salalah. Ahli Sidab started strong, with Shafi Talib scoring early in the third minute, capitalising on his team's relentless pressure, while Salalah relied on ineffective counter-attacks. Shafi Talib struck again in the 12th minute to make it 2-0 and Rashad al Fazari added a third in the 14th minute, ending the first quarter 3-0. Salalah showed some improvement in the second quarter, but Ahli Sidab continued their dominance, with Waqas Saad scoring the fourth goal from a penalty corner in the 23rd minute, closing the quarter 4-0. Ahli Sidab maintained their momentum in the third quarter, with Rashad al Fazari scoring his second goal from a penalty corner in the 34th minute. Two minutes later, Almas al Qasmi made it 6-0, ending the quarter with a commanding lead. In the final quarter, Maitham al Wahaibi added the seventh goal in the 52nd minute. Salalah managed to score their only goal a minute later through Hussain Hatim. However, Shafi Talib completed his hat-trick with his third goal in the 57th minute, sealing a big 8-1 victory for Ahli Sidab.

MUSCAT, MAY 8 Ahli Sidab earned a thrilling 4–3 victory over Al Amerat in a high-intensity preliminary round match of the Oman Hockey League, held at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Al Amerat. The match began evenly, with both sides exchanging chances from the opening minutes. Ahli Sidab's most notable opportunity came through Rashad al Fazari, who posed a constant threat in Al Amerat's circle. Meanwhile, Ayman Faraj nearly gave Al Amerat the lead with a one-on-one chance, but his shot narrowly missed the post, ending the first quarter in a goalless draw. Ahli Sidab started the second quarter with slight dominance, capitalising on it in the 22nd minute as Rashad al Fazari skillfully converted a penalty corner to put his team ahead. Al Amerat pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Ahli Sidab's goalkeeper and defence held firm, keeping the score at 1–0 by the end of the second quarter. The intensity rose in the third quarter, with Al Amerat levelling the score in the 35th minute through Ahmed al Noufali, who scored from a penalty corner. However, Ahli Sidab responded almost instantly, regaining the lead just a minute later when Khalid al Shoaibi converted another penalty corner, making it 2–1. Al Amerat continued their offensive efforts and managed to equalise once more in the 41st minute through Ayman Faraj, who finished a well-organised attack, ending the third quarter tied at 2–2. The final quarter brought even more drama. In the 57th minute, Ahli Sidab was awarded a penalty stroke, which Ammar al Shoaibi confidently slotted home to make it 3–2. Just a minute later, Laith al Wahaibi added a fourth goal from a swift counter-attack. Al Amerat managed to reduce the deficit before the final whistle when Elias al Noufali scored from a penalty stroke, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide, as Ahli Sidab held on for a 4–3 win. SALALAH EDGE AL NASR In another match held at the hockey field in the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, Salalah Club claimed their first win of the tournament with a narrow 1–0 victory over Al Nasr. The game started cautiously, with neither team creating any clear-cut chances in the first quarter, which ended in a goalless stalemate. The second quarter followed a similar pattern, despite timid attempts from Salalah through Mohammed al Toubi, while Al Nasr's Khalid al Ajmi came close but failed to find the net. The third quarter saw little change, as both teams continued to play conservatively, with minimal attacking threat. In the final quarter, Salalah showed greater intent and managed to break the deadlock in the 51st minute when Saleh scored the only goal of the match. The goal earned Salalah three valuable points, sealing a 1–0 win over Al Nasr.

Oman earn third straight win in AHF Cup thriller
MUSCAT, APRIL 23 The Oman national hockey team extended its winning streak in the 2025 Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Cup by defeating Uzbekistan 4-2 in a group stage match held on Tuesday at the hockey stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. Uzbekistan began the match with an aggressive approach, putting early pressure on Oman's defence and forcing the Reds into several defensive errors. The pressure paid off in the fifth minute when Gaybullo Khaytboev converted a penalty corner to give Uzbekistan an early lead. Following the goal, Oman gradually found their rhythm and began pressing forward. The team earned its first penalty corner, taken by Asama Barazahan, but Uzbekistan's defence held strong. Oman continued to mount pressure, and in the final moments of the first half, Barazahan successfully converted another penalty corner to level the score. Just before the whistle, Shafi al Shatari stunned the crowd with a well-organised play that led to Oman's second goal, closing the first half with a 2-1 lead.
