AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) – A man and woman have been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a 33-year-old Auburn man was shot multiple times early Sunday morning, June 8.
Auburn Police responded around 12:40 a.m. to the 4000 block of Moores Mill Road following reports of gunfire. Officers arrived to find the victim critically wounded. He was given emergency medical aid at the scene and transported to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to save his life. He is now in stable condition.
Police say 28-year-old Rashound Eric Tremaine Sawyer of Tifton, Georgia, and 26-year-old Carmella Star Spinks of Auburn were later arrested in connection to the shooting. Both are charged with Attempted Murder.
Investigators say the victim knew at least one of the suspects. However, police have not released information about what led up to the shooting.
Sawyer, who has a previous robbery conviction in Georgia, was also charged with Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm after detectives found him in possession of a .32 caliber revolver believed to be used in the shooting.
Sawyer is being held in the Lee County Jail without bond. Spinks has been released on a $75,000 bond.
