Roma intensify contacts with Raya Vallecano for Ratiu
Roma are being linked with Raya Vallecano fullback Andrei Ratiu. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma are serious in their pursuit of the Romanian right-back. The newspaper reports that the Giallorossi have intensified their contacts with Rayo Vallecano for the defender who has already won the role of captain of the Romanian national team. Advertisement Ratiu has a release clause of 25 million euros, but Roma are aiming to close the deal for a lower figure, trying to circumvent competition from Lazio, who are also following the player with interest. The clause, however, provides for half of the amount to go to Villarreal, the full-back's former club, which makes the operation even more complex.

Barcelona ready to rival Liverpool for right-back target
Barcelona ready to rival Liverpool for right-back target Barcelona are ready to rival Liverpool in the race to sign Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Ratiu this summer. Liverpool are understood to have shortlisted Ratiu as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. The latter is out of contract at Anfield in the summer and expected to sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer. Advertisement Arne Slot has Conor Bradley in his ranks as a natural successor but Liverpool are likely to enter the market for another right-back option to compete with the 22-year-old. Ratiu has caught the eye of the Reds' recruitment team after impressing in La Liga this season. The Romania international has two goals and three assists for the Spanish side this season and leads all La Liga full-backs for successful take-ons per 90. Manchester City have also been credited as admirers of Ratiu, who has a €25m release clause in his deal. However, Spanish outlet Fichajes claim Barcelona are also interested in a deal for the 26-year-old. The Catalans want to bring in a right-back to allow Jules Kounde to return to his favoured role in central defence. Advertisement Barcelona have created a three-player shortlist, that also includes AS Monaco's Vanderson and Borussia Dortmund's Yan Couto. The latter is currently on loan at the German side from Manchester City. Rayo Vallecano line up replacement as Liverpool chase key defensive star
Rayo Vallecano line up replacement as Liverpool chase key defensive star Rayo Vallecano are already planning for next season with changes expected in Inigo Perez's squad for the 2025/26 campaign. Perez is reportedly closing in on a contract extension in Vallecas with Rayo chasing down a European qualification place for the first time in over two decades. Advertisement However, if they do miss out on Europe, Perez will be under pressure to sell key players with Liverpool tracking Andrei Ratiu as a summer option. The Reds are on the hunt for a new right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold closing in on a free transfer move to Real Madrid with his contract at Anfield expiring in June. Los Blancos has not been deterred in their push for the England international and that could trigger a right-back ripple effect. Arne Slot is also looking at Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong but Romanian outlet ProSport has previously claimed Rayo star Ratiu is a stronger option. Image via Cordon Press Barcelona have also been linked with an offer for Ratiu – amid uncertainty over Jules Kounde's next step – with the Romania international impressing in Vallecas. Advertisement Rayo Vallecano have confirmed their awareness of big clubs showing interest in Ratiu but they will not agree to a sale easily in the months ahead. A potential European place would also bolster their case to retain the 26-year-old with the latest update indicating they will quote any interested party at least €25m. If Ratiu moves on, Perez will need a new face in his defence, and reports from Mundo Deportivo indicate he is lining up an ideal candidate. Guille Rosas has caught the eye at Segunda Division side Sporting Gijon this season but he is under contract until 2028. Rosas has been a bright spark in poor team campaign in Gijon, and if they slip into the third tier, he looks certain to leave for a cut price fee.
