Youth Minister opens ‘One Space Unites Us' event
Her Excellency Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, opened the 'One Space Unites Us' event. The event was organised by the ministry in cooperation with the Bahrain Space Agency and Nasser Centre for Science and Technology, with young people from Bahrain and other GCC countries taking part. Marking Gulf Youth Day, Minister Tawfiqi said that young people are the real wealth of any nation and the foundation for its future. Empowerment She added that investing in their empowerment, especially in innovation, technology, and the space sector, is a strategic priority for building a bright future that matches the country's ambitions. The Minister highlighted the importance of the event as a key step in supporting development in space sciences. She said that the space sector has become a strategic focus for young people's ambitions in science and technology, and for building a sustainable future.

Bahrain Prioritizes Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future
Bahrain's Minister of Youth Affairs, H.E. Mrs. Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, reaffirmed the Kingdom's strong commitment to empowering young people and positioning them as central figures in driving positive transformation and sustainable progress. Speaking at the 9th Global Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Conference and Exhibition, currently being hosted by Bahrain, the minister stressed the growing need for global collaboration and strategic cross-disciplinary partnerships to address today's urgent challenges. 'In a rapidly changing world, it is crucial to channel the energy of youth towards creating sustainable solutions, particularly in environmental innovation and digital transformation,' she said. National Initiatives Driving Youth Engagement Minister Tawfiqi showcased several of Bahrain's leading initiatives that aim to empower young people and align with the Kingdom's sustainable development goals. One such initiative is the Bahrain Science Center for Sustainable Development Goals, founded in 2018. This innovative educational hub is designed to raise environmental awareness and promote clean energy practices. By integrating eco-friendly technologies, the center encourages young people to adopt sustainable habits and lead by example. Youth City 2030: A Hub of Innovation and Skill-Building Another flagship program, Youth City 2030, was highlighted as one of the most ambitious national youth initiatives in Bahrain. Over a six-week period, the program offers an immersive and interactive learning environment that includes workshops in science, technology, media, arts, and entrepreneurship. 'Youth City 2030 equips young individuals with essential tools and skills to thrive in the future workforce and contribute actively to public life,' the minister explained. A National Strategy with Global Vision These initiatives, she noted, form part of a wider framework under Bahrain's National Youth Empowerment Strategy, which aims to create a nurturing and innovative environment for youth to grow, express, and lead. The strategy is rooted in principles of inclusion, innovation, and active participation. Minister Tawfiqi also revealed Bahrain's efforts to expand youth development initiatives beyond its borders through sustainable partnerships and collaborative projects. These efforts are in line with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, to which Bahrain remains firmly committed. Youth as Architects of Tomorrow In closing, Minister Tawfiqi emphasized that youth are not only participants in today's world but also architects of tomorrow. 'Young people are essential partners in shaping a safer, more sustainable future. Investing in their potential and equipping them with innovation and knowledge is the cornerstone of any true developmental transformation,' she concluded.

Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, signed a cooperation agreement with Abdulrahim Abdulhameed Al Kooheji, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Abdulrahim Al Kooheji Charitable Foundation, and Ahmed Shawqi, CEO of FranklinCovey Education Middle East, to implement the programme 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Volunteers' as a national initiative focused on empowering youth as key drivers of volunteerism and positive community change. The partnership aims to deliver a series of workshops and training programmes based on the globally recognised 7 Habits of Highly Effective People model. The initiative seeks to equip volunteers with advanced leadership skills, develop innovation, and promote social responsibility. It also forms part of national efforts to position the Kingdom of Bahrain as a leading regional hub for youth empowerment and volunteerism. Minister Tawfiqi highlighted that the Ministry takes pride in this strategic partnership, which directly supports its vision to prepare a generation of skilled Bahraini youth volunteers capable of contributing effectively to national initiatives. She said that developing socially aware and capable volunteers plays a direct role in shaping a brighter future and strengthening youth engagement in national development. Al Kooheji noted that it reflects the foundation's vision to support youth and volunteer work. He underscored the foundation's commitment to supporting initiatives that expand opportunities for youth and promote a culture of service and volunteerism. Shawqi described the initiative as a significant step in empowering young people and enhancing their leadership and volunteer capacities. Masari and NJEDA sign MoU to facilitate internship opportunities for Bahraini youth
Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, and Phil Murphy, Governor of the State of New Jersey, attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Masari Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA). The agreement aims to provide structured internship opportunities for Bahraini youth in New Jersey, in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. It also supports youth empowerment and promotes cross-cultural professional exchange. Minister Tawfiqi emphasised the significance of the partnership, noting that the MoU represents a key milestone in the national drive to equip Bahraini youth with practical training and international exposure. She underscored the Ministry's commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the skills and capabilities of young Bahrainis, enabling them to contribute effectively to sustainable national development. Governor Murphy highlighted the potential of the partnership to serve as a model for international cooperation in youth development. He noted that the initiative would allow Bahraini youth to gain exposure to New Jersey's economic landscape, helping to foster mutual growth and experience-sharing. The MoU was signed by Bassam Abdulrahman Altattan, Chairman of the Masari Authority, and Tim Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of NJEDA. It outlines a range of collaborative activities, including introductory sessions with industry leaders, engagement with leading businesses and institutions, and coordination of internship placement and training. Altattan affirmed the importance of the agreement in advancing youth development and international engagement. He stated that the Masari Authority is keen to ensure that young Bahrainis benefit from hands-on training in developed economic settings, supporting their skills development and readiness for the labour market. Sullivan noted the long-term value of investing in youth, expressing NJEDA's readiness to host Bahraini interns and contribute to strengthening regional cooperation. Wesley Mathews, CEO of Choose New Jersey, affirmed the organisation's support for the initiative, describing the internship programme as an opportunity to build lasting ties between two dynamic economies and equip young people with meaningful cultural and professional experiences. Bahrain's Youth Minister Highlights Kingdom's Empowerment Efforts at UN ECOSOC Youth Forum
Her Excellency Mrs. Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, represented the Kingdom of Bahrain at the opening session of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum held at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA. The forum was held under the theme: 'Working with and for Youth to Develop Inclusive and Sustainable Solutions for the 2030 Agenda.' On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Tawfiqi took part in a ministerial meeting organized by the UN Office of the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth, focused on enhancing youth participation in policymaking and decision-making processes. In her address, Minister Tawfiqi emphasized that empowering youth and integrating them into decision-making is a cornerstone for building more inclusive and sustainable societies. She noted that involving young people in shaping policies that directly affect their lives reflects trust in their capabilities and creative potential. The Minister also participated in a panel discussion titled 'Effective Youth Engagement in the Workforce,' where she showcased Bahrain's pioneering experience in youth sector development. She explained that the Ministry of Youth Affairs has transitioned from merely implementing programs to acting as a facilitator and enabler, which has led to the establishment of 23 youth-led associations specializing in areas such as talent management, leadership, and innovation. She pointed out that many of these initiatives are run by young volunteers, allowing them to gain valuable experience and skills, eventually preparing them to serve as mentors for future generations. Minister Tawfiqi reiterated Bahrain's commitment to enabling youth to contribute meaningfully to addressing national challenges and strengthening their roles within institutions, thus building a resilient and sustainable youth ecosystem. During her visit, the Minister also attended the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 (2015), which acknowledges the role of youth in promoting peace and security. Additionally, she participated in a special event hosted by the Russian Federation Mission, which focused on Russian policies supporting and empowering youth. On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Tawfiqi held several high-level meetings with senior UN officials, including Mr. Dennis Francis, President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, and Mr. Felipe Paullier, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs. These engagements reflect Bahrain's active international role in promoting youth development and its commitment to achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
