In a major nod to the 80-year-old's work, the Ray Martin Logie Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Reporter will honour the best of the best at Australian television's big awards night. 'I thought you had to be a horse or a dead politician, to be honest, to make it on a stamp. And I thought much the same as this,' Martin, who has five Gold Logies among his 14 in total, joked to Confidential. Tara Brown and Peter Overton are nominees for the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter. Picture: Richard Dobson 'So it's very hard to be recognised among a whole bunch of colleagues for whom I have great respect … To be chosen is a wonderful honour.' The TV Week Logie Awards will be held at The Star on August 3. Nominated in the inaugural batch of his namesake category are David Speers, Ally Langdon, Michael Usher, Peter Overton, Sarah Ferguson and Tara Brown. 'I wish I was a journalist starting out today,' Martin said. 'The range of things you can do is enormous. Langdon is also a first-time Gold Logie nominee this year, alongside Julia Morris, Sonia Kruger, Lisa Millar, Poh Ling Yeow, Lynne McGranger and Hamish Blake. 'I think when people meet me, I am who they see on television as well and people like authenticity and I hope that is what they feel they get from me,' Millar said of her nomination. Most popular new talent nominees are Hailey Pinto, Guy Montgomery, Jenny Tian, Kate Miller-Heidke, Kylah Day and Sofia Levin, while Kruger, Blake and Morris back up their gold nomination with a nod in the most popular presenter category alongside Ricki-Lee Coulter, Todd Woodbridge and Zan Rowe. How much snow are we getting on Thursday? Megastorm unlikely, but snow is coming
A snow storm could be on the way for much of New Jersey, but a diminishing forecast is now calling for up to 6 inches in parts of the state on Wednesday or Thursday. Accuweather says the storm could blanket much of the country with plowable snow from the Rocky Mountains to the East Coast, particularly the mid-Atlantic region. The estimates have been dropping since some forecasters predicted more than a foot of snow late last week. 'The megastorm right now looks like it's probably off the table, and we're looking at a run-of-the-mill snowfall,' said Ray Martin, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Mount Holly. As of Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service was forecasting a 60% chance of snow for Monmouth and Ocean counties Wednesday night into Thursday, with the odds further north shrinking and increasing further south, with Cape May County seeing an 80% chance of precipitation. Snowfall predictions should be posted by the National Weather Service by Monday afternoon, Martin said. Accuweather predicted 1 to 3 inches of snow in Northern New Jersey, 3 to 6 inches from the Shore south and up to a foot for Mid-Atlantic states such as Virginia and Maryland.
