Madonna unearths long-rumoured Veronica Electronica remix album
Madonna has introduced fans to her Veronica Electronica alter ego amid the release of a long-rumoured project. On Thursday, the music icon announced that she would be releasing a collection of "rare and unreleased" remixes from her 1998 Ray of Light album. Titled Veronica Electronica, the eight-track project will drop on 25 July. While Madonna originally had the idea in 1998, she wasn't ready to release the album at the time. "The project was ultimately sidelined by the original album's runaway success and the parade of hit singles that dominated the spotlight for more than a year," a press release reads. "Ray of Light went on to sell over 16 million copies worldwide and earned Madonna four Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Album." Veronica Electronica features newly edited versions of club remixes by Peter Rauhofer, William Orbit, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone, along with the original demo of Gone, Gone, Gone - an unreleased recording produced by Madonna and Rick Nowels. The Material Girl hitmaker has already released Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit) on all major streaming platforms. Following the news, Madonna took to her Instagram Stories to give further insight into her "other half". "Making my Ray of Light album was a seminal moment in my life as an artist," the 66-year-old wrote. "I was going through a huge metamorphosis. I had given birth to my daughter Lola. I had found my spiritual path and I was ready to shed a new skin and take a road less traveled by. I ventured into electronic music with (record producer) William Orbit and I created an alter ego, taking one of my middle names - and Veronica Electronica was born. Meet my other half." Madonna unveiled her last album, Madame X, in 2019.

Madonna introduces fans to Veronica Electronica
Madonna has introduced fans to her alter-ego Veronica Electronica as she prepares to release the remix album of the same name. The pop superstar has revealed she used the name while working on her 1998 record Ray of Light with producer William Orbit and she's given the title to her new remix album which features new versions of tracks from the critically-acclaimed 1998 record. In a post on Instagram, Madonna explained: "Making my Ray of Light album was a seminal moment in my life as an artist. "I was going through a huge metamorphosis. I had just given birth to my daughter Lola, I had found my spiritual path and I was ready to shed a new skin and take a road less traveled by. "I ventured into electronic music with William Orbit and I created an alter-ego, taking one of my names and Veronica Electronica was born. Meet my other half." Madonna went on to add a video showing an AI-generated version of her younger self announcing the Veronica Electronica remix album. The AI Madonna said: "I am not real. I am just an artificial intelligence but I want to tell you that the album Veronica Electronica will be out soon. "It's the long-awaited remix album from the Ray of Light era." Madonna Announces A New Album Dropping Next Month
Madonna announces Veronica Electronica, a remix album of Ray of Light era tracks, arriving July 25 ... More and led by 'Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit).' NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 05: Madonna attends the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 05, 2025 in New York City. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/MG25/Getty Images for The Met Museum/Vogue) For several months now, Madonna has been teasing the next chapter of her musical career. The superstar revealed on social media not long ago that she's working on a follow-up to her album Confessions on a Dance Floor, which she is currently referring to as Confessions 2. There's no word yet on when fans will get to hear anything from that project. But they won't have to wait long before they can listen to new tunes from the icon, as she has announced a completely separate full-length that's set to arrive in only a few weeks. Madonna has announced a new album titled Veronica Electronica. The full-length remix set is expected to drop on July 25. The first tune from the project, "Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit)," was shared at the time of the announcement. Veronica Electronica features seven previously unreleased and rare remixes of songs from her album Ray of Light. The tracklist includes smashes like "Frozen," "Nothing Really Matters," and, of course, the title track, as well as several other cuts. Fans who pick up a copy of the album will also be treated to a never-before-shared demo of the song "Gone, Gone, Gone," which wasn't originally featured on Ray of Light. According to a press release announcing Veronica Electronica, the album was apparently conceived back in 1998 during her Ray of Light era. When the full-length took off and became hugely successful—perhaps more so than some in her camp were expecting—the remixes were put aside and never revisited until now, more than a quarter-century later. It's now been almost six years since Madonna released a new studio full-length. Madame X, her fourteenth project, dropped in the summer of 2019. The Grammy winner has reportedly already played Confessions 2 for some people, but when it comes to the general public, she's remaining quiet about the set. Madonna is also currently busy prepping a Netflix miniseries about her life, which was once meant to be a feature-length film, but which appears to have shifted mediums, perhaps in order to fit more story in.
