Rayapati Shailaja assumes charge as Chairperson of Andhra Pradesh State Women's Commission
TDP leader Rayapati Shailaja took charge as the Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh State Women's Commission at the Commission's office in Mangalagiri on Monday. She was sworn-in, in the presence of senior officials, with a traditional puja led by Vedic scholars.
Addressing the media following the ceremony, Dr. Shailaja affirmed her commitment to women's empowerment and pledged to work tirelessly to prevent various forms of violence and atrocities against women. She said the Commission would take swift action on pending cases and, if necessary, escalate serious issues to the National Commission for Women to ensure justice for victims.
Highlighting the increasing misuse of social media platforms, she warned that stringent action would be taken against anyone posting obscene or abusive content targeting women. She also announced plans to launch a new website to enable women to directly report incidents and seek assistance from the Commission.
Dr. Shailaja expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Minister for IT Nara Lokesh, Union Minister Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, and other leaders for entrusting her with this responsibility. She emphasized her commitment to working in a non-partisan manner and ensuring speedy justice to all women in need.
She was congratulated on the occasion by former MLC Rayapati Srinivas, Bhashyam Educational Institutions Chairman Bhashyam Ramakrishna, industrialist and educationist Rayapati Gopalakrishna, Ramesh Babu of Ramesh Hospitals, family members, well-wishers, and supporters.
