The DA did not name the accused to protect the identity of his victims. The district attorney's office said that the defendant is a 33-year-old male from Coram, N.Y..
According to a police investigation, the defendant and his girlfriend were staying in a Long Island hotel when they got into a fight in May 2025. The defendant allegedly began punching his girlfriend repeatedly in her head and body, authorities said.
Throughout the assault, which lasted hours, he also stabbed the victim with a pen and strangled her with such force that he fractured a small bone in her neck, authorities said. The victim also sustained a laceration to her liver due to the abuse.
The beating stopped when other guests at the hotel called the front desk to report the incident to the police. Responding officers observed severe bruising and swelling on the victim's face, leading to the defendant's arrest.
The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries, police said.
The defendant was charged with strangulation, assault, endangering a physically disabled person and endangering a child. The unnamed defendant is due back in court on July 2.
