Holly Hill man wins $1 million from Cash Wheel Scratch-Off ticket bought at local 7-Eleven
A Florida Lottery Cash Wheel Scratch-Off ticket sold in Holly Hill has made a local resident a lot richer. Raymond Littleton Jr., 64, of Holly Hill, claimed a $1 million top prize at the Lottery's Orlando District Office, the Florida Lottery announced Monday in a press release. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $605,000. Littleton purchased the winning ticket from a 7-Eleven store located at 1601 Ridgewood Ave. in Holly Hill. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket. The Lottery's Cash Wheel Scratch-Off costs $5 and "offers over $62 million in total cash prizes, including 4.3 million winning tickets. The game's overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.05," according to the release. Scratch-off games represented 74% of ticket sales in the 2023-24 year for the Florida Lottery. "Additionally, since inception, scratch-off games have awarded more than $65.5 billion in prizes, created 2,283 millionaires, and generated more than $19.8 billion for the state's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund," the press release added. Approximately 25% of every ticket purchased is transferred to the trust fund, according to the Florida Lottery's website. The state Department of Education then distributes the funds to the public education system. The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $48 billion to enhance education and sending more than 1 million students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, the release stated. The Florida Lottery reinvests 99% of its revenue into Florida's economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,600 lottery retailers, and transfers to education. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid over $98.6 billion in prizes and created more than 4,200 millionaires.
