New security measures at 53rd Rayne Frog Festival
RAYNE, La. (KLFY) — Festival organizers say this year, security will look a little different when it comes to entering the frog festival and ensuring safety for festival goers. 'We're a gated festival, so we only have one entrance this year.' Leonards said. Marietta Leonards, chairman for the Rayne Frog Festival, said security measures will look a little different this year. A clear bag policy will be implemented along with festival goers having to walk through a security gate for entry. Another rule that would be enforced is that no weapons will be allowed, and everyone will be subjected to a wand search. 'This is our first year implementing that type of procedure.' Leonards said. 'So gauging other festivals that have implemented it already, it might be a little bit longer to get in, but we try to ensure that the lines flow.' Leonards said with the new security measures, it could take more time to get into the festival, but the goal is to keep a consistent flow and ensure the safety for everyone. She said there has been positive feedback on organizers taking a more secure approach for this year's festival as people are beginning to expect it. Great food, live music, and frog activities for everyone, the 53rd annual Rayne Frog Festival is here, and festival organizers couldn't be happier. The festival's impact on Rayne is a huge one, according to Denise Brignac with the Rayne Chamber of Commerce. She said it promotes tourism and helps local businesses with commerce. 'We depend on the festival proceeds to help us do all of those things and as well as the city.' Brignac said. Suzette Leonards with the city of Rayne said they saw an increase in people coming to the city to experience Rayne's culture, and of course, the frogs. Close Thanks for signing up! They go around and look at the murals and the statues and embrace the whole city as well as the festival.' With the recent flooding Rayne experienced, both Brignac and Leonards said this is needed in the city because of the businesses that were affected in addition to the time, effort, and resources that went into putting the festival together. 'It's very important in many ways for the chamber, for the City of Rayne, and for our parish.' Brignac said. 'The Frog Festival is something that we work towards all year long. So, we're excited and hope to have everyone here,' Leondards said. The 53rd annual Frog Festival is this weekend until May 10th, and everyone is invited to come out and have ribbit-ting time. Fast forward to today, and I now own eight Ruggable rugs throughout my home. The only downside? They can be pricey, so the current sale, offering up to 40% off select styles through today, is absolutely worth checking out. Below, I'm rounding up some of the best deals to shop now.
