Grow food and save money with ReForm Shreveport's urban homesteading workshop
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – ReForm Shreveport is hosting a free workshop on urban homesteading in partnership with Shreveport Green.
'Whether it's growing homegrown veggies or cutting costs on food, or capturing rainwater, urban homesteading is all about making your space work for you,' the event stated. 'We're teaming up with Shreveport Green to bring you an exciting workshop on growing food and creating a more resilient home—right here in the city.'

Shreveport Green Executive Director LJ Jones and Community Resilience Coordinator Katie Caldwell will lead the workshop. According to the event, they will break down everything people need to know about getting started, working within city regulations, and making the most of their space.
Key topics in the workshop will include:
The basics of home gardening – grow your own fresh produce, even in small spaces.
How urban homesteading saves money – fresh food, lower grocery bills, and smarter living.
Rainwater capture and purification – you can better use and reuse Earth's most precious resource.
'With the cost of food on the rise, now is the time to rethink how we use our spaces,' the event stated. 'Learn how small changes at home can build a more resilient, productive, and sustainable future for you and your community. Bring your questions, ideas, and a friend—we'll see you there!'
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Andress Artist & Entrepreneur Center, 717 Crockett St in Shreveport.
