Urbana mall hosts Read for America event
URBANA, Ill (WCIA) — Close to 1,000 books were given away in Urbana to celebrate Reading Across America over the weekend.
The Urbana Park District handed out the free reading materials at Lincoln Square Mall on Saturday. Over 30 different booths set up to help promote literacy in the area. Organizers said this can lead to success for students in the future.

'Well, literacy is so important because it's what connects you to good citizenship, to critical thinking, to success in school. So, we really support it in every way that we can,' ALTRUSA President-Elect Polly Hill said.
Hill said organizers were able to reach their goal for the number of books handed out at this year's event.
