Turkish and Egyptian Textile Sectors Will Be the Backbone of Our Growth Strategy: Turkish Ambassador

The 76th edition of Cairo International Fashion & Textile Expo, Egypt's leading clothing and textile exhibition, kicked off on Thursday. Organized by Pyramids Group for International Exhibitions and Conferences, the exhibition is held under the auspices of the Ministries of Industry and Investment and supported by the Ready-Made Garments and Textile Chamber. The event runs from February 13-15 at the Cairo International Convention Center in Nasr City, showcasing the latest industry trends and innovations. As Egypt's largest fashion and textile industry event, it was attended by about 90 high-level companies in the textile and fashion sector, including 15 Turkish companies, not surprising as the event is another example of the importance that Egypt attaches to investment opportunities in the textile sector. ‎The exhibition received great attention from the participants and provided a great opportunity for companies to promote their products.‎ Among the attendees were Essam El-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control and Minister Plenipotentiary, and Dr. Alaa Ezz, Secretary-General of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC). Ezz indicated in his speech that an industrial zone will be established on an area of 5 million square meters in agreement with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges in Turkey. ‎In his statements on the sidelines of the opening of the exhibition, the Turkish Ambassador to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen was keen to thank Mohamed El-Sherif, Chairperson of Pyramids Group, for his role in organizing the exhibition. He also expressed his happiness about participating in the exhibition for the second year in a row. Ambassador Şen also stressed that Turkish companies continue to show great interest in trade and investment in the textile sector in Egypt and that each field of textiles plays a leading role in developing trade and economic relations between Turkey and Egypt. He was also keen to visit the pavilions of the 15 Turkish companies participating in the exhibition from the sectors of textiles, cotton, clothing, and yarn. Moreover, the ambassador spoke with the company officials individually on opportunities to increase production capacity and new investment opportunities offered by Egypt. Representatives of the Turkish companies participating in the exhibition stressed that the contributions of the Egyptian government in providing an investment environment paved the way for new investments for them. Ambassador Şen also met with officials from the Turkish Textile Machinery Association. The association officials shared details about their plans to communicate and cooperate with businessmen in Egypt to provide textile and clothing machines for textile investments that continue to grow in Egypt. The ambassador said that the association will be in contact with the General Authority for Investment and the Ministry of Trade and Industry through all member machinery manufacturing companies. Egypt ranks third in growing textile production among the world markets for Turkish textile machinery. The ambassador stressed that the textile sector, including yarns, fabrics, garments, equipment, and machinery, in all its dimensions, is the carrier and backbone of the joint growth strategy between Türkiye and Egypt.

The 76th edition of Cairo Fashion & Tex, Egypt's leading clothing and textile exhibition, opened on Thursday, featuring 750 Egyptian and international brands. The event, held under the auspices of the Ministries of Industry and Investment and supported by the Ready-Made Garments and Textile Chamber, showcases the latest industry trends and innovations. Organized by Pyramids Group for International Exhibitions and Conferences, the exhibition runs from 13 to 15 February at the Cairo International Convention Center in Nasr City. As Egypt's largest fashion and textile industry event, it attracts over 30,000 visitors and serves as a key platform for business and networking. Mohamed El-Sherif, Chairperson of Pyramids Group, emphasized that Cairo Fashion & Tex provides a valuable opportunity for Egyptian companies to showcase their products while staying updated on global market trends. He highlighted the exhibition's role in fostering collaboration among companies, facilitating trade, and securing export and investment deals. According to El-Sherif, this year's event has drawn significant participation from exhibitors representing Egypt, Turkey, China, Germany, Italy, and other countries. He expects Egyptian companies to secure export deals worth approximately $200m, a sharp increase from the $60m in agreements signed during the previous edition. Pyramids Group is also preparing to launch several upcoming exhibitions in 2024, including Egy Fashion in April, which will feature over 500 brands and attract 1,500 international buyers, and Syria Fashion & Tex, set to take place in Syria at the end of August. Mohamed Atef, Director of Pyramids Group, noted that the strong participation of exhibitors, visitors, and international buyers reflects the growing confidence in Egypt's textile industry. He confirmed that the company successfully coordinated the attendance of a 1,000-member international buyers' delegation from Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen. Atef expressed optimism that the exhibition will boost Egyptian exports and further position Egypt as a regional hub for the textile and apparel industry, expecting over 30,000 local and international visitors to attend the event.
