‘RHOSLC' star Britani Bateman sued for $100K by former mother-in-law

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Britani Bateman is facing a $100,000 lawsuit from her former mother-in-law, Sandra Underwood. According to court documents filed on May 6, Underwood claims the 53-year-old reality TV personality used the money for personal benefit and has failed to return it. Underwood, 87, is the mother of Bateman's ex-husband, John Scott Underwood. She alleges that the funds were deposited into a family trust called the 'Integrity Trust' in 2019 at Bateman's urging. The trust was set up by Bateman's father, Melvin Merrill Martin, with Britani and her late mother as trustees. John was listed as the successor trustee. Sandra says she deposited $100,000 with the understanding it could be withdrawn at any time. However, her legal filing states that Bateman 'willfully, maliciously and through intentionally fraudulent conduct' kept the funds for herself and now refuses to repay them. A March letter from Sandra's attorney demanded repayment, but no money has been returned. The complaint argues that Britani was unjustly enriched and calls for repayment of the $100,000 plus legal fees and interest. With a limited monthly income of around $1,600 and mounting medical costs, Underwood says the loss has put a severe financial strain on her. This isn't the first legal drama involving Bateman and her ex. The former couple finalized their divorce in October 2023, and Bateman has previously accused John of abuse and financial misconduct. Bateman has not responded publicly to the lawsuit.

Longtime friends hatch ‘Egg My Yard' business in Hinsdale in time for Easter

While longtime friends Emma Francis and Caroline Kelly are home from their respective colleges for Easter break, the two Hinsdale residents are going to take a little time to be entrepreneurs. On the day before Easter, Francis and Kelly will spend the day completing the final task of a business project they recently began. Egg My Yard! Is the name of their business for which they will bring Easter eggs they have filled with goodies and hide them in the yards of people who have signed up for the service. Eggs will contain nut-free candy and toys and will be hidden in yards around the Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Western Springs and Oak Brook area. The cost is $30 for 30 eggs, $75 for 75 eggs, $100 for 100 eggs, and $10 for a golden egg with a special prize. Francis said she got the idea just last week when she saw an online video of someone offering a similar service in another town. 'I texted Caroline and suggested we give it a try since we would both be home for Easter break, and here we are,' she said. Kelly immediately liked the idea. 'We both knew we were going to be home for Easter, so we thought it would be a great opportunity to see if it would work in Hinsdale and also a fun way to spend time together over break,' she said. The two young women, now college sophomores, first met as kindergarten students at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic School in Hinsdale. While attending Nazareth Academy, Francis and Kelly both played on the golf and lacrosse teams together and became best friends, Kelly said. After graduating they went off to college at different schools — Francis to Indiana University in Bloomington and Kelly to Villanova University in suburban Philadelphia — but that has not put a damper on their friendship. 'We never planned on attending the same college, and it's fun to compare our college experiences,' Francis said. 'We talk pretty much every day and see each other at home for breaks. Caroline also came to visit me last fall, which was so nice to be able to show her around and introduce her to my friends.' Kelly, who is co-majoring in Marketing and Business Analytics, said she very much enjoyed her visit to see Francis, a Business Management major, at Indiana University. 'That was so much fun to see her life there and meet all of her friends,' Kelly said. 'Emma and I have stayed super close.' Francis said she decided to attend Indiana University because 'everyone speaks so highly of it, it has such a beautiful campus and a great business program.' 'My twin brother, dad, aunts, uncles, and cousins all went or go to IU as well,' she said. Kelly's choice of Villanova came quickly. 'I knew I wanted to go to Villanova when I toured the campus and was able to experience the sense of community firsthand,' she said. (It's) similar to the community present at Naz. Everyone looks out for each other and wants their friends to succeed.' As for their Egg My Yard! business venture, Kelly and Francis have promoted it with posts on the Real Housewives of Hinsdale Facebook page and sending information about it to local families for which they have done babysitting. 'The response has been great,' Francis said. 'We were not sure if people would need help with Easter, but we thought it was worth a shot to post our flyer and see.' Francis said they are using colorful plastic eggs along with jumbo glittery golden eggs, which they will hide 'sometime after sundown' Saturday night. 'Our goal for Egg My Yard! is to help out some local families,' she said. 'It can be a lot to get everything ready in time for Easter, especially when you have young kids, so we wanted to give people the opportunity to outsource their tasks. I have worked as a babysitter and nanny in Hinsdale for the past seven years, so I know tons of local families and wanted to be able to help them out this Easter.' Kelly also said she liked the idea of helping some local families for Easter. 'We also were excited to do this together and be able to spend time with each other,' she said, 'But also, in all honesty, we are college students who are both going abroad for a semester in the next year, so we were hoping to be able to add to our college funds as well.' While not finished, yet, with their inaugural effort, both Kelly and Francis said they hope to do Egg My Yard! again. 'We would love to continue it for years to come, and are so grateful for the response we've gotten from everyone in Hinsdale,' Kelly said.

'RHOSLC''s Monica Garcia Is Pregnant, Expecting Baby No. 5 Less Than One Year After Experiencing Miscarriage: 'Grateful' (Exclusive)

Monica Garcia is pregnant! The former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, 41, is pregnant and expecting her fifth baby, a rep for Garcia confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. Garcia, who made waves in season 4 of the reality TV show, is already mom to daughters Bri, 19, Jaidyn, 14, West, 8, and Kendall, 7, who she shares with ex-husband Mike Fowler. This will be the first baby for Garcia and her boyfriend, Braxton Knight. Garcia has also shared several exclusive photos with PEOPLE, baring her belly in a maternity shoot. Related: Former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Star Monica Garcia Reveals 'Heartbreaking' Miscarriage: 'I'm Still Processing All of This' Garcia tells PEOPLE that when she found out she was pregnant, she had a Disneyland trip planned with her partner and figured that'd be the perfect time to reveal her exciting news. "My best friend, Koa, helped me pull it all off," she says. "Koa had picked out the infant ears hat at the Mad Hatter and had 'Aries Baby' embroidered on them while I distracted Braxton with churros and getting my cotton candy. I told him while we were on Peter Pan, flying over NeverLand." So far, her pregnancy has been a little rough — Garcia notes that she's been "so sick" and has been throwing up her entire pregnancy. She doesn't know the sex of her baby yet and is planning on saving that special moment for delivery. The couple also doesn't have a name picked out yet. "We have no names!" Garcia shares. "We are really struggling in the name department. Send us all your name suggestions!" Although she's so excited for this next chapter, Garcia, who experienced a miscarriage just under a year ago, tells PEOPLE that it also feels like "such an eye opener" and says it's been a "complete mind shift." "It was difficult coming off such a tumultuous whirlwind with RHOSLC and all the love and hate I received from all of that," she candidly admits. "Old friends turned on me, I was iced out by the cast, I lost my job, my relationship with my mother has never recovered, my world was crumbling. Then I had an unexpected pregnancy and miscarriage at 40." "The entire time I was going through all of that, the world chose to spit on me and continue to kick me while I was down," Garcia continues. "The accusations of me lying about a pregnancy and miscarriage that I received daily while dealing with such an unexpected loss was a pain that I will never forget. I was losing a baby while being shredded apart by some of the most awful comments I've ever had said to and about me." The expectant mom of four says that her experience with the show and on social media led her to keep this pregnancy mostly private. Garcia, who is due in April, says that she wanted to "protect" and keep her pregnancy safe for both herself and the baby. "Being able to protect my peace was so important to me this pregnancy," she shares. "I'm grateful for those that have stood beside me, to the amazing fans, and loved ones I do have in my life, but that miscarriage was my lowest point with being in the public eye and I wasn't going to put myself through that again, for the sake of the pregnancy and the baby." "God has been there for me every single step of the way," Garcia says. "I have been so blessed and been silent about all of it. I just hope someone reads this and it resonates with them on some level. Reminds them that no matter what people do to you, say about you, or try to take from you, they can NEVER take what God has for you." Read the original article on People
