Spring Hill College dropping majors due to ‘under-enrollment'
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — An email sent out to students, faculty and staff at Spring Hill College from the president and provost announced that six of the school's majors are being dropped.

According to President Mary Van Brunt, Ph.D. and Provost Rebecca Cantor, the majors being dropped include:
Chemistry
Biochemistry
History
Philosophy
Secondary Education
Studio Art major & minor
'Like many colleges and universities, we are facing challenges related to shifting student enrollment patterns,' read the email. 'To address these challenges and align our academic offerings with current student demand, we are undertaking a process of academic program adjustments.'
The email offered students in those majors other options for coursework:
For Chemistry and Biochemistry majors: Chemistry minor, Health Science major, Science Core requirements, electives
For History majors: History minor, Politics major, History Core requirements, Philosophy minor, PPE (Phil, Poli and Econ) major, Philosophy Core and electives
For Secondary Ed majors: Elementary Education major
For Studio Art majors and minors: Core requirements and electives, Media and Performing Arts major, Graphic Design major
According to the email, current Spring Hill College 'students will have the opportunity to complete their current major if they so choose.' School officials said they would help students to make it an easy transition.
Mobile County Health Department reports receiving anonymous threat
The president and provost said the program adjustments have resulted in reducing faculty positions. The impacted faculty members have already been personally notified, and the school plans to help them through the transition.
