Danika Johnston joins the Guardian as director of commercial partnerships

The Guardian has announced the appointment of Danika Johnston as director of commercial partnerships for Australia and New Zealand. Johnston is an accomplished media executive who has held leadership roles at Nova Entertainment, Mamamia, SBS and TikTok. Prior to joining the Guardian, Johnston was the Australian managing director of the UK-founded social media platform WeAre8. Throughout Johnston's media career, she has fostered high-performance teams and built long-term strategic partnerships, and will continue that work at the Guardian as director of commercial partnerships. Johnston will lead the advertising division of the commercial business, overseeing the sales, operations, branded content and insights teams. She will report to managing director, Rebecca Costello. Rebecca Costello says: 'Danika's appointment marks an exciting next step in the evolution of our commercial strategy. Her depth of experience, innovative thinking and strong leadership credentials will be instrumental in driving revenue growth and strengthening our partnerships.
