Salam: Restoring sovereignty, trust key to Lebanon's recovery
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said in an address he delivered at a conference titled, 'Rebuilding Lebanon: Investment Framework and Business Opportunities' that Lebanon's financial collapse stems from poor governance and impunity, and stressed that the country faces immense challenges.
Salam noted that Israeli attacks devastated infrastructure and disrupted lives, yet the Lebanese people and businesses remained resilient.
'It is time to rebuild the state—this is a core mission of my government,' Salam added, outlining key pillars: restoring sovereignty, securing borders, and stabilizing the country.
Moreover, the PM announced enhanced control over all entry and exit points, particularly Beirut's airport, and revealed plans to reopen Qlayaat Airport. He further confirmed the disarmament of over 500 weapons depots in the south and heightened security at Beirut Airport.
Emphasizing transparency, Salam cited progress on depositors' rights, judicial independence, and upcoming legislation for AI governance.
The PM also reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to the safe return of Syrian refugees and rebuilding cultural and sports institutions.
