Jeep Recon EV Shown for the First Time Sans Doors, Sporting New Grille

The 2025 has been revealed undisguised for the first time on the brand's website. The photos show the electric off-roader without doors and wearing a new version of Jeep's seven-slot grille. We're still waiting for the Recon EV to be officially revealed, which will happen before it goes on sale sometime in late 2025. If you weren't one of the 126 million people who caught a glimpse of the new Jeep Recon EV in the commercial that aired during last week's Super Bowl, here's your chance. While we've already seen digitally rendered images of the forthcoming all-electric off-roader and captured spy photos of a partially disguised test mule roaming public roads, the new photos Jeep posted on its consumer site are our first chance to see a fully undisguised version of the Recon EV, albeit one still in pre-production form. As with the Jeep Wrangler, the Recon's doors are removable. The EV doesn't have solid front and rear axles and traditional four-wheel drive, but it's expected to have dual electric motors that provide four-wheel traction. That should be aided on loose surfaces with all-terrain tires, and the Recon's short overhangs and elevated ride height should provide useful clearance off-road. Although the photos on Jeep's website don't provide a glimpse of the interior, our spy shots showed a space that mixes digital displays with a passenger-side grab handle, a lockable center console, and buttons that act as door handles. Along with a rear-mounted spare tire and roof rails, Jeep's photos interestingly show red front and rear recovery hooks. Those are typically blue on the brand's electrified models (see the plug-in-hybrid Grand Cherokee and Wrangler 4xe). The tow hooks were also blue on the prototype Recon EV we spotted in the wild. It's unclear if the color change is simply a red herring, a shift away from blue identifying EVs, or perhaps a reference to the report that Jeep could offer the Recon with gas and hybrid powertrains alongside its electric one. Either way, we should find out more details in the coming months, as Jeep's website says the Recon EV is coming sometime in late 2025.
