Bhu Bharati to be operational in 28 mandals of 28 districts from today
The State government has decided to extend the operation of the prestigious Bhu Bharati Act and portal to 28 more mandals in 28 districts across the State starting Monday.
The Revenue department has accordingly decided to conduct revenue sadassus, meetings to receive applications from landowners facing problems due to the Dharani portal, in these mandals till May 20. The development follows the implementation of the new Act and portal on a pilot basis in four mandals of four districts from April 17 to 30.
According to Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the sadassus were aimed to create awareness among the people on the Bhu Bharati Act and take steps to resolve the grievances of landowners as part of the meetings. District collectors have been directed to participate in these meetings to clear doubts of the people in layman terms and ensure that grievances are resolved effectively.
The hasty steps by the BRS government landed scores of landowners in trouble giving them sleepless nights. The Dharani portal launched by the BRS government with ulterior motives pushed hundreds of families into problems raising questions on the ownership of lands they were in possession since generations.
The powers that be in the previous government supported the 'land business' conducted in the name of Dharani, resulting in people losing rights over their lands. At the same time, the absence of a window to represent their grievances had compounded the problems of farmers. The Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy enacted the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights) Act 2025 to alleviate the problems faced by landowners, especially farmers.
The government was firm on effective implementation of the Bhu Bharati Act and it had sought the cooperation of the people, elected representatives and officials concerned in this direction. This has been contemplated to reduce litigations which were aplenty in the decade long rule of the BRS government as people were left with no option but to take legal recourse.
