Chennai City Police to roll out ‘Red-Button Robotic COP' in 200 locations
The Greater Chennai City Police will introduce 'Red-Button Robotic COP', a modern tool in 200 locations so as to reduce emergency response time by 50% in areas where systems are installed, to instill an enhanced sense of safety and confidence among the public and to render help immediatley during crises.
The Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner said, ' We have taken a series of measures for the protection of women and the general public. We will now be introducing the modern equipment which will be installed in places wherever more public gather or in crime prone areas after scrutiny of the tools duly by our officers concerned.'
'This tool may help the public to have immediate access to police and boost public confidence and security. It will be active 24/7, providing a psychological effect of trust and confidence to the general public. The system may empower communities with tools for safety and awareness,' said Mr. Arun
Red-Button Robotic COP offers an unobstructed 360-degree view to maximise the coverage of the four ultra modern surveillance cameras mounted on the top of machines. The equipment has GPS and internet facilities. By triggering the Red Button by anyone either person who is in need of assistance or on their behalf. It will also send single duplex audio and live video streams to police control rooms and patrol vehicles stationed in the nearby locations. Immediately after receiving the alert, police personnel will be deputed to the spot and render the assistance.
These Robotic COPs will be installed at indoor and outdoor railway stations, bus terminals, shopping zones and malls, isolated areas, education institutions, IT parks and companies, toll plazas for surveillance from June.
