The park sites on the site of on old mill, known as the Red Mill, owned by Prescott and Sons which, according to the Radiomuseum website, employed more than a hundred people in Keeseville in 1864 during the Civil War and later made products that included cabinets for early radios. The mill had been vacant for years before the Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH), a non-profit organization with the goal of preserving old and historic buildings in the region, bought the site in 2018.
The park will include a playground, picnic area, pedestrian path, and interpretive signs. According to AARCH, the project's $700,000 budget was not enough to fill in the foundation and basement of the old Red Mill, but they hope that a continuation of the project will allow it to eventually happen.
