Belagavi: Transport minister Ramalinga Reddy, law & parliamentary affairs minister HK Patil, and women & child welfare minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, jointly laid the foundation stone on Friday for the construction of three major religious and community projects of Reddy community in new projects include the Venkateshwara temple, to be built at a cost of Rs 12 crore, the Hemareddy Mallamma Meditation Centre at Rs 5 crore, and the Balaji Kalyana Mantapa estimated at Rs 3 crore. The ceremony was held at KK Kopp hill station, located opposite the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi. Vemanananda Swamiji of the Reddy Gurupeetha, Erehosalli (Harihar), who graced the event, expressed joy over the temple project. "A 'Little Tirupati' is coming up in Belagavi, which is a matter of great pride. The construction must be completed on schedule," he said. Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi announced a contribution of Rs 25 lakh from the MPLADS fund and an additional Rs 1 lakh from his personal resources for the temple's construction. Reddy community leaders urged to focus on education

Most leaders who spoke at the launch of works to build Sri Venkateshwara temple and Hemareddy Mallamma meditation hall by the Reddy community in Belagavi urged the community to focus on education on Friday. Vemanananda Swami of Reddy Gurupeetha in Erehosalli, Harihar, said that the community should give priority to the educational sector along with its religious activities. The structures will come up in Kanive Kuruvina Koppa village on the Pune- Bengaluru national highway near the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. He said that the community should focus on the education of its youth, especially girls and efforts should be made to increase the enrolment of larger number of youth in higher education. 'A large of number of devotees from northern Karnataka go to Tirupati every year. It is a matter of pride and joy that a Chikka Tirupati is being built in Belagavi and it will fulfil the long pending demand' he said. Minister for Transport and endownment Ramalinga Reddy said the community leaders had to work towards facilitating the education of its young men and women. 'We have to come up projects to help the community. Young boys and girls need hostels. Community leaders should come forward to establish educational institutions,' he said. The government will provide all cooperation in the construction of the temple, he added. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil said that steps should be taken to establish institutions that provide education and skills that will be useful for the students of the society. 'In addition to building temples and community halls, educational institutions should be built so that the children of the community can achieve more,' he said. Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar said she would extend cooperation if the community were to establish education institutions. 'I will be actively engaged in the construction of the temple, will cooperate and work as if it is my own community's work,' she said. She hoped that the temple would become a tourist attraction. She claimed that during her term as MLA, she had built or developed over 140 temples in her constituency. She said the State government was developing the Saundatti Yallamma temple. Minister H.K. Patil has formed a special authority to develop the temple town and got a grant of over ₹110 crore from the Union and State governments, she said. She also said the Rajhansgad Fort at Yallur would be developed at ₹1 crore. Rajya Sabha member Eeranna Kadadi said he would release ₹25 lakh from his local area development fund for the temple, and contribute rupees one lakh personally. MLA Asif Seth, former MLA D.R. Patil, president of Reddy Sangh and Balaji Temple Trust Committee Ramanna Mullur, vice-president Kantu Jolliberi, leaders like R.V. Patil, Indirabai Malali, Girisha Sonawalkar, Narayan Barmani, Manjunath Patil, Narayan Kencharaddy, Srinivasa Beesanakoppa, Basanagowda Kamanagowdara, Panduranga Raddy, Ramesh Jangal, Sanjiv Sonnada, Lata Arakeri, Shantha Jangala, Kasturi Baramani, Sujatha Patil, and others were present.
