Redemption Whiskey Unveils 18-Year-Old Bourbon: A Masterwork of Craft, Time and Character

Aged Nearly Two Decades, Limited Release of This Highly-Anticipated Rare Collectible Expected to Sell Out Quickly STAMFORD, Conn., June 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Redemption Whiskey proudly expands its highly coveted Ancients Series collection with the release of Redemption 18-Year-Old Bourbon, a limited-edition expression that captures the transformative power of time and craft. Aged for nearly two decades and bottled in extremely limited supply, this collectible bourbon represents Redemption Whiskey's commitment to pushing the boundaries of American whiskey while building on its bold, rye-forward foundation. Expected to sell out quickly, the scarce supply will be available in select markets for pre-order on beginning on Father's Day, June 15. Born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Redemption 18-Year-Old Bourbon was once a hidden treasure—rediscovered and meticulously nurtured under the expert guidance of Master Blender Alan Kennedy. Bourbons of this age are notoriously difficult to perfect, often losing balance or acquiring harsh characteristics over time. Through Kennedy's discerning palate and masterful blending techniques, this rare release reached peak maturity with remarkable depth and complexity to create a once-in-a-generation find. "Redemption 18-Year-Old Bourbon is one of the rarest and most complex expressions we've ever had the privilege to release," said Alan Kennedy, Master Blender at Redemption Whiskey. "Redemption is a brand about character and soul. Crafting a bourbon of this age and quality is incredibly rare, and when I tasted the liquid, I knew it deserved to be shared. It's a proud moment for both me and Redemption—and an opportunity to showcase the extraordinary potential of our oldest stock for Redemption fans, bourbon collectors and newcomers alike." Gracefully aged in charred American oak barrels, this bourbon is non-chill filtered to preserve every nuance of its exceptional character. The result is a bourbon that unfolds beautifully with each sip—an intricate flavor profile that evolves with time, showcasing the magic of expert curation. Expect a bouquet of rich oak intertwined with layers of velvety cherry jam, warm cinnamon, and a delicate hint of mint. Redemption 18-Year-Old Bourbon is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, offering the kind of refined elegance that will captivate even the most seasoned whiskey connoisseur. Redemption 18-Year-Old | 103.4 Proof | $399.99 SRP for 750mL NOSE: Warm oak, immediately followed by cherry jam, cinnamon and subtle hint of mint PALATE: Cherry notes, blended with oak, a touch of sweet corn and delicate hints of vanilla and leather FINISH: Medium to long, with oak and vanilla and a lingering hint of cherry With only 2,400 bottles available, Redemption 18-Year-Old Bourbon will be available beginning in June with a suggested retail price of $399.99 for a 750mL bottle. Consumers can purchase the limited-edition offering in store and online at (where available). Sitting alongside its rare counterparts Redemption 36-Year-Old Bourbon and 18-Year-Old-Rye, Redemption 18-Year-Old Bourbon is a testament to patience and ultra-aging techniques and has already received accolades including Double Gold wins in both the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and 2025 New York International Spirits Competition. HUGE UPSET: Local qualifier Jacob Willcox takes out world No.1 Italo Ferreira at the Margaret River Pro

Jacob Willcox returned to Margaret River with one thing in mind following the disappointment of being cut from surfing's elite tour at his home event last year: Redemption. At Main Break on Tuesday, the local qualifier took another step towards his ultimate goal of re-qualifying for the World Surf League's championship tour, beating current world No.1 and 2019 world champion Italo Ferreira in pumping 8-10ft conditions. Willcox, a Margaret River local who grew up surfing the region's famous breaks, had to do it the hard way just to earn his spot in the field, winning last week's trials. And after a nightmare opening round defeat to Ferreira, in which his posted just two scores of 2.50, Willcox was left questioning everything, laid up in bed with a head cold for two lay days, before coming out firing in the elimination round earlier on Tuesday and saving his best for a rematch with the Brazilian powerhouse. 'After this event last year I felt so disappointed, so heartbroken,' he said. 'Redemption: that was my one word for this week. I just want to compete and hopefully this result leads me into a good campaign on the challenger series. I'm so fired up to get back on the tour.' Willcox looked a different surfer to Saturday's rough start, putting it down in part to an equipment switch. He scored an excellent 8.33 for a wave that included sticking a massive vertical drop, three turns and a tough finish, adding to a solid 6.67 to post a 15.00 two-wave total. Ferreira put up a 6.87 and 6.00 for a 12.87 total but was always chasing and couldn't find the big number he needed. 'I had such a shocker that first day, I rode the wrong board and couldn't even get off the bottom so it felt good just to get out there on the right board and do a turn,' Willcox said. 'I was stoked to surf against Italo, he is one of my favourite surfers and so amazing to watch out there, it got me so fired up. To beat him was epic. 'I'm knackered after those two heats, it's pretty draining conditions with a lot of swell. I've been sick as a dog the past few days. It's good just to be back in the water.' The 27-year-old has now surfed the Margaret River Pro eight times but never previously made it to the round of 16. With his best result at home already locked in, he hopes local knowledge can help him land a few more upsets. 'I feel like it's almost anyone's game out there, you just need to be able to pick the good waves and being a local definitely helps,' he said. 'It's cool to be able to compete against these guys in the big event and beat them. I know I can do it, sometimes it just happen how you think. 'It's a blur out there when you ride out of that end section but you can hear everyone getting behind you. I'm so happy to have an event here at home to compete in front of all my friends and family.' Willcox took six months away from competition to re-group following the disappointment of being cut from his rookie year on the CT and failing to re-qualify on the CS. He admitted feeling burnt out after his decade-long attempt to make it on surfing's elite tour, only to have it ripped away at the mid-season cut, only a few months in. 'I'm just trying to put some good heats together and set myself up for a good year,' he said. 'I've had about six months off with no competing and I feel like that's given me a lot of energy to come into this year pretty hungry.' Watch the WSL Margaret River Pro live and free on 7PLUS

The Bluecoats

A former school for girls is now offering an education in beer. The chapel-shaped, Victorian building is a bit of an anomaly on Tottenham's High Road, in among the corner shops and with a glimmer of Spurs' shiny HQ in the distance. Inside is welcoming; the pub suits the seasons – one side is light-filled and modern, while a partition separates off a dark, distressed room with a mahogany bar and vintage signs bearing old-fashioned crests. But the most important season of all is the footie kind. If football is this pub's first love, beer would have to be its second. A long blackboard advertises 'house', 'craft' and 'cask' beers. Local breweries Redemption, Pressure Drop and Beavertown are represented, but you'll also spy Walthamstow and Bermondsey beers, plus Guinness and Heineken – there's a refreshing absence of craft beer snobbery. ‘I've only been aroused twice on the show' – BU Mthembu on Adulting S3

Since Big Brother Mzansi, Luthando BU Mthembu has made a name for himself playing the charming Vuyani in the Showmax Original series Adulting. BU has also established as a rapper who goes by the stage name Ludo, with his music featured on the show. As an actor, he's also been on chart-topping shows like Ayeye: Stripped and Redemption. On Adulting, we've seen him go from being in his toyboy era to making an effort to turn his life around and finally, he does. In the third season now, Vuyani (his character) steps into his role as a club owner. The new season raises the stakes as the gents confront their deepest fears and desires while striving to keep their friendship intact. Reflecting on the previous season, BU says, 'Vuyani's vice lies in his love for women. Despite being a young, healthy, intelligent, and well-grounded individual, he still struggles with unemployment. What stands out about him is his ability to leverage his strengths to navigate life and achieve his goals. Without giving too much away, I can say he steps up significantly this season. I'll leave it there to avoid spoilers!' Read more | 'I'm an actor telling a story' – Mapaseka Koetle on playing Naledi on steamy Adulting S3 With how steamy and controversial the show has been, there have been scenes that will not only live rent-free in people's minds but will always have tongues wagging. One of these has been Vuyani frog jumping with Thembi Seete's character. BU shares that this particular scene has made people believe that he'd do that in real life. 'I think it's a matter of education. When you portray a character really well, people can become so convinced that they can't see beyond what they're watching. For instance, they've seen my character do a frog jump with Thembi Seete's character, and now they think that's who I am. That's the scary part for us as actors - people tend to hold on to moments like that. But it's all part of the job. It just means I played the role really well and made it believable.' Still speaking on the scene, he says intimacy scenes require a lot of trust between co-actors. 'I believe it's important to understand people and recognise that everyone is vulnerable. When it comes to sex scenes, even I felt uncomfortable at first. I remember my very first sex scene was with Rosemary Zimu on Ayeye: Stripped. She guided me through that scene, and what I took away from that experience was a sense of ubuntu. 'In Adulting, we have intimacy coaches, which helps a lot. I've also observed Thembi Seete and tried to apply the skills I've gained through life to make the space as comfortable as possible. I approach these scenes with the intention of staying true to the purpose of the scene and contributing to what we're trying to create for the show,' he adds. Read more | Mpho turns a new leaf in Adulting season 3, Thabiso Rammusi spills the beans Of all the intimate scenes he's had, BU admits that he's only been aroused twice throughout the show. 'The first time was the kiss at Konka, which is weird because it was just a kiss. The second time was during that scene [where I used my teeth to remove a g-string], though I didn't feel aroused while shooting it - only when I watched it. This is the edited version, so it's cleaner. Using my teeth was my idea, but I had to ask for permission.' This season though, we are in for a treat as BU also taps into the emotional side of his character. 'But I'm even more excited about my emotional scenes. I think we've seen everyone else show vulnerability, except for Vuyani and Mpho - though Mpho was going through a lot from the very beginning. This season, we'll get to see Vuyani shed a tear, and viewers will really feel what he's going through.' New episodes of the show drop every Saturday at 8pm.
