Skilla Baby Shot Multiple Times in Drive-By Shooting

Skilla Baby (real name Trevon Gardner) was the victim of a drive-by shooting in Redford, Mich., on Thursday evening (May 22), Billboard can confirm. A press release from the Redford Township Police Department — who did not identify the Detroit rapper — said a male was transported to a local hospital to have his non-life-threatening injuries treated. The lead investigator on the case, Edward French, told TMZ that the suspect pulled up alongside the rapper's car and fired an estimated 25 times. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a bullet-ridden vehicle, but Skilla Baby — who was alone in the car, according to the press release — was already being transported to a local hospital. Per FOX2, the rapper was grazed in the head and back, and also shot in the hand area. He was alert during his time in the hospital and is expected to recover. Police are still searching for the unidentified gunman, who fled the scene. Billboard has reached out to Skilla Baby's reps for comment. Last year, Skilla partnered with the Detroit City Council to produce a gun buyback event, aiming to reduce gun violence across his hometown. 'It was successful,' the 26-year-old told Billboard of the event. 'We got 300 guns off the street. I think the underrated part of the gun buyback was that it was a job fair and we expunged a lot of people's records. That was important to me, because I'm a felon, and to help people change their life and the trajectory of their future — people judge you, and it's hard to be successful when you're a felon.' 2024 was a busy year for Skilla Baby, who delivered a pair of projects with The Coldest to start the campaign, followed by Crack Music 3 in November. Motorcycle rider dead from hit-and-run-crash in Redford Township

A vehicle-motorcycle crash in Redford Township, Michigan, has resulted in the death of the motorcycle rider. The accident happened Sunday in the area of Plymouth Road and Beech Daly Road, the Redford Township Police Department reported. On arrival, police found a motorcycle on fire with a person on the ground nearby. Officers dragged the injured person away from the fire, called for medical assistance and started providing aid. The individual was taken to Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His next of kin has been notified. Police said the preliminary investigation showed the motorcycle rider was northbound on Beech Daly Road at the Plymouth Road intersection, when a white Cadillac tried to make a left turn from southbound Beech Daly onto eastbound Plymouth. After the collision, the driver of the Cadillac drove off. The vehicle believed to be involved in the crash was recovered several hours later in the city of Detroit. Redford Township Police have identified a possible driver of that vehicle. The investigation is continuing. Police ask that anyone with information on the crash contact Traffic Bureau Sergeant Ditzhazy at 313-387-2541 or jditzhazy@

Drop-off box for unwanted medication now available at Redford Township Police station

Residents of Redford Township in Wayne County, Michigan, now have a year-round option for disposing of leftover or expired medication. The Redford Township Police Department announced Tuesday in a press release that it has installed a permanent drug disposal kiosk in the lobby of the police station. This kiosk will be available 24/7 for residents to drop off unwanted prescription and over the counter medication. The police department has long participated in the National Drug Take Back Day campaigns, and the new drop box expands that effort. Funding from the Opioid Settlement money distributed to Redford Township will pay for the box and service. "We know that substance abuse is often intensified or increased because of unused medications in the home. This kiosk will help lessen the opportunities for these medications to get into the wrong hands or be misused," Chief Jennifer Mansfield said in her statement. Supervisor Pat McRae also said he "is thrilled to support this project which is one more example of Redford Township's commitment to protect the community." Items that can be disposed of through the drop box include pills, ointments, vitamins and patches, including pet medications. Medications can be left within their containers or in blister packs; officers ask only that personal identifying information be removed from the packages. The kiosk cannot be used for needles, liquids or inhalers. Once the box inside the kiosk is full, the unwanted medications will be shipped out for destruction in compliance with Drug Enforcement Agency standards. The project is one of the steps that the police department is taking to help reduce substance use disorder. The township police department also works with the Hope Not Handcuffs project to provide immediate assistance to those seeking resources for narcotic rehabilitation and education to the community and the families of those impacted by substance abuse disorder.
