Morganfield family recalls the night they survived a tornado
MORGANFIELD, Ky. (WEHT) — The Morganfield community continues to clean up after Friday night's tornado.
After facing the unimaginable, the Rendour family feels grateful. Their Morganfield home was destroyed in Friday night's tornado but they walked away with no one hurt.
Sandy Rednour says they watched as the tornado started to form and blow around debris.
'As it formed, there was no doubt we were in trouble,' Rednour said.
That's when the family of six rushed to take shelter in the hallway.
'When the front room blew in, it was a like a vortex,' Rednour said. 'And the wind that rushed up the hallway, it busted through and tore off the door and door facing. And the suction blew off the roof and the back wall out. The oldest grandson thought he was going out with that.'
After 26 years of memories made in their home insurance says its a total loss. The Rednours now sit and reflect on how their original plan for a tornado shelter could of cost them their lives. But in the face of destruction the family remains in good spirits.
