Barwani transport officer, RTO agent booked on bribery charges
Barwani: Indore-based Lokayukta police on Wednesday booked a district transport officer and an RTO agent on charges of bribery.
Lokayukta police inspector Pratibha Tomar told mediapersons on Wednesday evening, "We booked district transport officer Reena Kirade and RTO agent Vivek Maltare under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act and 61 (2) of BSA.
Acting on a complaint from RTO agent Chetan Sharma, we caught another RTO agent, Vivek Maltare, red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Anjad town of Barwani district."
Tomar said that Chetan Sharma had applications pending for issuing and renewing licences for some people and to clear these applications, Barwani's district transport officer (ARTO) Reena Kirade and agent Vivek Maltare were demanding Rs 30,000 from him.
Sharma made a complaint to the superintendent of police of Lokayukta Police, she added.
