Travis Kelce Breaks Silence on Taylor Swift Regaining Masters

On May 30, Taylor Swift announced she regained ownership of her master recordings from Shamrock Capital, the private equity firm that purchased them from Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings in late 2020. In her announcement the billionaire musician revealed she wasn't sure if this moment would ever become reality. 'All the times I was this close, reaching out for it, only for it to fall through. I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away," she said in a letter on her website. "But that's all in the past now… I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made… now belongs to me. All of my music videos. All the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life's work.' Just a few days after the announcement Swift's boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, broke his silence on the big move. Kelce's New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce welcomed former NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal, who ended his visit by playing Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble." In the clip, O'Neal mouths the lyrics, 'Once upon a time/ A few mistakes ago/ I was in your sights/ You got me alone," getting the Kelce brothers fired up. 'That's my favorite song in the world brotha,' the Hall of Famer said. 'I love it.' Kelce applauded the shoutout from O'Neal 'Shout out to Tay Tay,' he said in his first public comments on the matter. 'Just got that song back, too. Just bought all her music back. So it's finally hers too man. I appreciate that dog." Swift reportedly paid close to what Shamrock Capital paid for the recordings - around $360 Kelce Breaks Silence on Taylor Swift Regaining Masters first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 4, 2025
