HBL PSLX likely to resume this week

All six teams are expected to assemble in Islamabad by the night of May 14. Photo: PCB The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 is expected to resume between May 16 and 18, with preparations underway to finalise the schedule for the tournament. Sources indicate that these dates are being considered for the continuation of the remaining fixtures. The PSL administration is in ongoing discussions with relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth planning and successful execution of the matches. Although most overseas players, who traveled to Dubai after the PSL was initially scheduled to resume, have returned to their respective countries, efforts are being made to bring foreign players back into the teams. The PSL administration remains optimistic about finalising the schedule soon, with sources suggesting that an official announcement could be made today. Should the matches resume on May 16, all teams are expected to assemble in Islamabad by the night of May 14. The postponement occurred when PSL 10 was in its final stage, with only eight matches remaining. The delay was caused by cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, and following the announced ceasefire, it is most likely that both PSL 10 and IPL 2025 will resume in the coming days. Following 27 matches, Quetta Gladiators, who have already qualified for the playoffs, currently lead the points table with six wins, two losses, and one no-result from nine matches. Karachi Kings are in second place with 10 points, having secured five wins and three losses in eight matches. Defending champions Islamabad United sit in third, also with 10 points, following five wins and four losses from nine games. Lahore Qalandars are in fourth place with nine points, having secured four wins, four losses, and one no-result. Peshawar Zalmi occupy the fifth position with eight points, earned from four wins in nine matches. Multan Sultans have unfortunately been eliminated from playoff contention, with only one win and eight defeats from their nine matches. Resumption of domestic cricket The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday confirmed the resumption of domestic cricket events, which had been temporarily suspended due to the prevailing security situation in the country. Starting today, the Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup and the Inter-District U19 One-Day Tournament will continue, ensuring that grassroots-level cricket remains active. The President's Trophy Grade II, which was also postponed, will resume on May 14. The quarter-finals are scheduled for May 19–21, followed by the semi-finals from May 24–26. The final will be played from May 28 to 31, marking the conclusion of the tournament. Earlier, the PCB had suspended several domestic tournaments, including the President's Trophy Grade II, the Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup, and the Inter-District U19 One-Day Tournament, due to escalating security concerns. On May 10, the board announced that these competitions would resume from the point they were paused, with updated schedules to follow.

PCB suspends domestic tournaments, will resume after Ceasefire confirmed

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended ongoing domestic cricket tournaments, including President's Trophy Grade-II. Other affected events include the the Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup and the Inter-District U19 One-Day tournament. The board confirmed in an official statement released that these competitions will resume from their current stages once the situation stabilises. It is currently being reported that PCB is looking at options to resume these tournaments, as well as HBL PSL, after the ceasefire was officially confirmed by Donal Trump. This development follows the PCB's earlier decision to postpone the remaining eight matches of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10. 'The decision to postpone has been taken based on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,' read the official statement. 'The nation's attention is rightly focused on the bravery and sacrifices of Pakistan's Armed Forces who are defending our sovereignty.' Officials also extended gratitude to players, franchises, sponsors, broadcasters, and staff involved in the PSL, acknowledging their role in ensuring the smooth progress of the league so far. 'While cricket unites the country and brings happiness to millions, it is appropriate to pause when the nation faces such serious external threats,' the statement continued. The PCB reiterated its commitment to player welfare, particularly that of overseas cricketers, and pledged to resume cricket once the environment is deemed safe.

PCB postpones men's domestic tournaments with immediate effect amid India-Pak tensions

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday announced the immediate postponement of all men's domestic tournaments in the country owing to escalating cross-border tensions with India. 'The Pakistan Cricket Board confirms that the ongoing President's Trophy Grade-II, Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup, Inter-District U19 One-Day tournament have been postponed with immediate effect due to prevailing security condition in the country.' 'The tournaments will resume from the same stage later and a revised schedule will be shared closer to the resumption,' said the PCB in its official statement on Saturday. Previously on Friday, after the BCCI paused IPL 2025 for a week due to growing tensions between the two nations on the border areas, the PCB had announced it has postponed the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for an indefinite period, citing the advice given by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The tournament's postponement news came hours after PCB claimed it was going to host the remaining eight matches of the tournament in the UAE, though the organisation didn't specify the dates or venues of those rescheduled matches. PSL's future had come under great uncertainty after a drone had crashed at a food street near the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium, which resulted in Thursday's match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings being postponed indefinitely. Two weeks after 26 people were gunned down by terrorists in Pahalgam – a popular tourist destination in Jammu & Kashmir, India launched 'Operation Sindoor' to target terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed. Pakistan continued its aerial attacks, comprising drones and missiles, on Indian border cities as well as across other military stations in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat on Friday. But all of them were successfully foiled by India's defence systems.
