Culture Minister to Present Film Society Festival Awards on April 22
Pasant Elzaitony The Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno will participate in the award ceremony and honorary recognitions of the Film Society Festival for Egyptian Cinema. The ceremony will take place on April 22, following the Sham El-Nessim holiday. The event will be held at the Creative Arts Center in the Cairo Opera House, with celebrated actress Laila Elwi attending as the festival's Guest of Honor. The festival is presided over by renowned cinematographer Mahmoud Abdel Samie. The following awards will be presented during the ceremony: Best Poster Design: Mohamed Dakhly – 'Rehla 404' Best Visual Effects: Mohamed Tantawy and Ahmed Shehata – 'El Serb' Best Sound: Tarek Ghalwash – 'Bed' Saat Fi Yawm Ma' Best Makeup: Ahoud – 'Bed' Saat Fi Yawm Ma' Best Costume Design: Marwa Abdel Samie – 'Rehla 404' Best Set Design: Samer El-Gammal – 'Ahl El Kahf' Best Music Score: Nablsi – 'Bed' Saat Fi Yawm Ma' Best Editing: Karim Saad – 'El-Harifa' Best Cinematography: Nancy Abdel Fattah – 'El-Hawa Sultan" Best Screenplay: Mohamed Ragaa – 'Rehla 404' Best Directorial Debut: Heba Yousry – 'El-Hawa Sultan" Best Director: Hany Khalifa – 'Rehla 404' Best Supporting Actor: Mohamed Mamdouh – 'Ahl El Kahf' Best Supporting Actress: Huda El Mufti – 'Bed' Saat Fi Yawm Ma' Special Acting Award: Hana El Zahed – 'Bed' Saat Fi Yawm Ma' and the late Mostafa Fahmy – 'Ahl El Kahf' Best Leading Actor: Ahmed Dawood – 'El-Hawa Sultan" Best Leading Actress: Menna Shalaby – 'El-Hawa Sultan" Excellence in Acting: Mona Zaki – 'Rehla 404' Best Film: 'Rehla 404' In the same context, this year's festival will honor the late producer Sobhi Farhat and the legendary actor Hussein Riad. Special honors will also be given to: Screenwriter and film critic Magda Khairallah, Syrian actor Gamal Soliman, Actress Mona Zaki, and Director Mohamed Yassin On the sidelines of the festival, the documentary film 'Rafaat Aini Lel Samaa,' directed by Ayman El Amir and Nada Riad, will be honored. It won multiple international awards. Additionally, Palestinian director Fathi Omar will be granted a certificate of appreciation for the screening of his two documentaries, 'El Wahm' and 'Khareg Al Taghteya' during the festival. 51st Film Society Festival to Kick off April 5
Pasant Elzaitony The 51st edition of the annual Film Society Festival for Egyptian Cinema will kick off on Saturday, April 5, at 6 PM at the Creativity Center in the Cairo Opera House. The festival's film screenings of the best films of the year will continue until April 12, with the awards ceremony set to take place on Tuesday, April 22, at the Sayed Darwish Hall. The festival's films were selected based on a public poll involving critics, filmmakers, and Egyptian Film Society members to select the top seven films that were commercially released last year. The selected films, in order of their release, are: Al-Harifa by Raouf El-Sayed, Rehla 404 by Hany Khalifa, Anf wa Thalath Oyoun by Amir Ramses, Al-Serb by Ahmed Nader Galal, Ahl El-Kahf by Amr Arafa, Awlad Rizk 3 by Tarek Al-Arian, Al-Hawa Sultan by Heba Yousry, and Ba'd Sa'at fi Yawm Ma by Othman Abu Laban. The selected films will be evaluated by a jury panel, competing for awards in various categories, including Best Screenplay, Directing, Cinematography, Editing, and Acting (Lead and Supporting Roles). Mamdouh Abdel-Samie, President of the Film Society and the Festival, expressed his gratitude to Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, for the ministry's support. Abdel-Samie emphasized that the support of several key cultural institutions highlights their appreciation for the organization's vital role in Egypt's cultural landscape.
