What Is Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Net Worth? How She Makes Money After Being Released From Prison
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has reportedly earned a high net worth despite her controversial past. She shot to true crime infamy in 2016 after she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for plotting to kill her mother, Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard, with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.
Although she claimed she'd committed the shocking crime after suffering years of manipulation and abuse at the hands of her late mother, Gypsy was sentenced to 10 years behind bars. She only served roughly eight years and was granted parole in 2023.
Gypsy has since made a name for herself on social media and on reality television as she continues to shed light on her traumatic childhood, her prison time and how she's chosen to move forward with her life.
Gypsy has an estimated net worth of $3 million, according to Marca.
Gypsy has generated a wide array of income sources since becoming a free woman, from brand sponsorships and published works to television and podcast appearances.
After amassing millions of followers across various social media platforms, a financial expert claimed the mother of one — who shares daughter Aurora Raina Urker with boyfriend Ken Urker — could earn up to $100,000 for every paid post and has many other options for income online as well, according to the New York Post.
'With a community that engaged … Blanchard could be making millions this year,' Fanmade CEO Olivia Rudensky said in January 2024. 'She has such a unique built-in audience that wants to hear more and wants more answers, which obviously turns into money. The Internet loves buying meme merch. People are watching her every move … There's so many different content deals at play.'
In March 2024, Gypsy deleted her public social media to live a more private life. However, later that year, she returned to TikTok and Instagram.
Gypsy has also made a number of documentary and reality television appearances, including HBO's Mommy Dead and Dearest in 2017 and Lifetime's Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, which is set to air season 2 in March 2025.
It is unclear exactly how much money Gypsy made from both series.
Gypsy published her e-book, Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom, in January 2024. Her memoir, My Time to Stand, hit shelves in December 2024.
It is unknown how much she's earned in book deals and sales.
In 2019, Hulu released a fictionalized television series based on events from Gypsy's childhood. The show starred Joey King as Gypsy, Patricia Arquette as Dee Dee and Calum Worthy as Nick.
However, Hulu did not pay her for the rights to her story. In her e-book, she admitted she was not "consulted or compensated" for the show while she was behind bars, and said that it even caused corrections officers to look at her "differently" after it aired.
