Therefore, it will be quite interesting to see what upgrades we can expect from the new generation models. Now, to get a greater understanding of what's coming, we have curated a comparison between the rumoured specifications of the Oppo Reno 14 with the Reno 13 model. This will help buyers to know if the new generation is worth the wait or not. Based on the China variant of the Oppo Reno 14 features a new camera module design, featuring a triple camera setup. Oppo Reno 14 series officially teased, expected to launch in May

Oppo has officially announced that the next-gen Reno 14 series will soon arrive in China. In a Weibo (Chinese microblogging site) post, the company only teased the name of its next-gen smartphones, the Reno 14 series. The teaser shows three dates in May that are assigned for promotional campaigns in three different cities in China. This is a clear sign that the Reno 14 series will arrive in May. Oppo has kept other details under wraps. advertisementOppo Reno 13 series: What to expectWhile Oppo has not confirmed any details so far, the rumours and leaks paint a good enough picture. Tipster Digital Chat Station has shared two new images on Weibo, claiming to reveal the design of the upcoming Oppo Reno 14. These leaked renders showcase the device from both the back and the side, offering a closer look at its refreshed aesthetic and camera layout. Oppo Reno 14 (Credit: Weibo/ Digital Chat Station) The Reno 14's rear design features a flat, sculpted glass panel with a raised section around the camera module. The upper portion of the back sports a sleek white finish and smoothly chamfered edges, evoking the design language of older iPhones, such as the iPhone 12. The device is framed in aluminium, with the power button and volume rocker visible on the right-hand side. While rumours suggest a new 'Magic Cube' button could appear on the left, this detail remains unconfirmed as only one side of the phone is The camera system is arranged in an R-shaped layout within a slightly rectangular housing. Two lenses are placed vertically on the left, while a third sits within a capsule-shaped ring beside a triple LED flash. Previous leaks indicate the Reno 14 will feature a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 3.5x zoom lens. Although the rear render initially appears to show the periscope positioned above the main camera island, the side view clarifies that it is integrated within the module. Oppo Reno 14 (Credit: Weibo/ Digital Chat Station) Interestingly, the design closely resembles that of the Reno 13 Pro, suggesting Oppo is refining rather than reinventing its look. However, one notable departure from its predecessor is the move to a flat display – a 120Hz OLED panel – replacing the curved screen used in the Reno 13 Reno 14 Pro is also expected to launch with an IP68/IP69 water resistance rating, offering full protection against dust and water ingress. While Oppo has yet to officially confirm these details, the combination of subtle design evolution and robust new features points to a polished upgrade for the Reno series.

The Oppo Reno 13 Pro adds a far-reaching 3.5x zoom camera for a midrange price

Oppo has announced the new Reno 13 series of midrange handsets The Reno 13 Pro sports a 3.5x telephoto camera and IP68 / IP69 water and dust resistance Oppo seems to suggest a combination of these new features with a new underwater photography mode As our Oppo Reno 12 Pro review details, a telephoto lens is a rare and valuable addition for a midrange handset. The Oppo Reno 13 Pro comes equipped with a 3.5x telephoto camera, nearly doubling the optical zoom reach of its predecessor, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro. As far as we're aware, the Reno 13 Pro's 3.5x snapper gives Oppo's latest leading mid-ranger more optical zoom reach than any other phone of its price. Telephoto cameras are becoming more common on midrange handsets: we recently saw the launch of the Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro, which respectively carry 2x and 3x telephoto cameras. The 50MP 3.5x telephoto camera is joined by a 50MP main camera and 8MP ultra-wide camera, in an arrangement that follows Oppo's track record of taking – let's call it inspiration – from a certain Cupertino-based phone maker. Design lineage aside, the Oppo Reno 13 Pro is also rated to IP69, and Oppo says the phone is resistant to being submerged in fresh water as well as heated jets of water – it's as waterproof as a phone can get right now. With these two features – an upgraded camera system and the best possible water resistance – Oppo has done the natural thing and devised a way to make the most of both at the same time. The Reno 13 Pro comes with a new underwater camera mode that utilizes the volume rocker to operate the camera when submerged. This new mode allows users to take photos with the volume-up button, and start and stop video with the volume-down button, which I must admit is a reasonably intuitive control scheme – even if the idea of hopping in the pool, phone in hand, does still freak me out a bit. We've seen phones with IP69 water resistance before, but it's very rare that a phone maker actively encourages its users to take a dip with their device – let alone for the sake of a photo shoot. The Oppo Reno 13 Pro, and its two siblings the Oppo Reno 13 and Reno 13F, have not yet received a release date or pricing – we'll update this article when the details are confirmed. A design that complements As soon as you pick up Reno13, it exudes a premium feel in the hand, be it from its aerospace-grade aluminium frame or one-piece sculpted glass design. The back also has a refreshing butterfly shadow effect that adds character to the smartphone. Its build allows for strength and durability previously unseen on a Reno series device, like IP69 waterproofing and dustproofing. As a whole, Reno13 series is the first case-less underwater photography smartphone, allowing for usage at a maximum depth of two meters for up to 30 minutes. When underwater, the camera can also take advantage of a specialist Underwater Photography Mode to optimise colour, contrast and distortion. Being able to click pictures using the volume buttons also helps, and once you are done with your underwater adventure, Reno13 series has a one-tap drainage function that quickly expels water from the device to improve longevity. Another aspect where longevity is assured is with the battery on Reno13. Inside, there is an impressive 5,600mAh cell that supports 80W SUPERVOOC charging, with a five-year durability rating. If you want to charge the device to full, it takes about 47 minutes whereas a quick five-minute charge gets you to 17 per cent.
