Seven-Year-Old Girl Dies in Accident at Nevada Ski Resort
A seven-year-old girl died at Diamond Peak Ski Resort, Nevada, on Saturday, according to local news reports and a statement shared by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office told the Reno Gazette-Journal that the girl was struck by a falling boulder and suffered blunt force injuries to the neck and Peak Resort said in a statement that it was a "non-skiing accident." The mountain also said Tuesday that the girl, identified as Adelyn Grimes of Reno, Nevada, had been climbing on a slope near the lodge when the boulder hit her, KCRA 3 approximately 3:38 p.m. on Saturday, medical services were notified of the accident, Diamond Peak Ski Resort said in its statement. Ski patrollers responded immediately and provided first aid before additional emergency services arrived, which included the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and Washoe County Sheriff's Office staff. Despite the life-saving efforts, the girl succumbed to her injuries at the scene, according to several news reports. The sheriff's office, in an email comment, called the accident "tragic" and said that there "was no foul play involved.""We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the child involved, to the members of the Sugar Bowl race team, and to the entire Lake Tahoe ski racing community, all of whom have been profoundly saddened by the accident," Diamond Peak Ski Resort said in its statement. Diamond Peak Ski Resort and Incline Village General Improvement District are offering support and counseling resources to the staff affected by Grimes' passing. A fundraiser organized after the accident has raised more than $30,000 so far. "The family's desire is to donate funds in Addie's honor. A further update is to come as those decisions are made," the GoFundMe page reads."Any help is appreciated during this difficult time. Falling boulder kills 7-year-old girl at Lake Tahoe ski resort, Nevada officials say
A 7-year-old girl struck by a falling boulder died at an Incline Village ski resort near Lake Tahoe, Nevada officials and news outlets reported. The child died in a 'non-skiing accident' at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, the Diamond Peak Ski Resort said in a statement. A falling boulder struck the girl, causing blunt force injuries to her neck and chest, the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office told the Reno Gazette-Journal. The Diamond Peak Ski Patrol provided first aid while emergency teams were en route, but the girl died of her injuries, the resort said. The medical examiner's office identified her as Adelyn Grimes, of Reno, KOVR reported. 'There was no foul play involved and the sheriff's office extends our deepest condolences to all involved,' the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said in a statement to KCRA. 'We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the child involved, to the members of the Sugar Bowl race team, and to the entire Lake Tahoe ski racing community, all of whom have been profoundly saddened by the accident,' the resort said. Incline Village is on the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe, which is about a 120-mile drive northeast from Sacramento.
