A 24-year-old man is in hospital after a stabbing in Montreal's Ville-Marie borough on Thursday morning.
Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 5:15 a.m. about the incident on René-Lévesque Boulevard near de Champlain Street.
'When police arrived on the scene, they located the victim,' said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. 'He was conscious and had been injured to the lower body with a sharp object.'
The man was transported to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
'According to the first information we have, it was a conflict that would have escalated between the victim and the suspect,' said Chèvrefils. 'After injuring the victim with a sharp object, the suspect would have fled on a scooter before the arrival of police.'
There have been no arrests.
René-Lévesque Boulevard is closed between Papineau Avenue and Alexandre-DeSève Street.
